It has a layer of non-translucent black material behind the guages with the numbers cut out. That way light only shines through the numbers making the rest of the guage face appear black. during the day it looks like the numbers are black on a white face, but really it's clear on white face and you're looking "into" the guages, so the numbers look black.

I see.

So if you have your lights on during the day would you be able to read the #s?

I find that at times during the day it can be difficult to see the numbers with the dash illumination on high. You can turn the dash illumination down but then you can't see the radio display


It's not so bad after you get used to it, it's a small price to pay for such cool gauges

I dunno if anyone notices, but the numbers are not as "fat" or bold at night because the cutout is smaller than the size seen in the day time.

Two years? Are you sure? Don't you drive an Accord or Honda of some sort?

whats better is that theyre on the 3rd gens too and people are like, "wow those gauges come factory like that on a 10-15 year old car?"
