Cleaning AC/Heat vents

Ok...I started cleaning my vents today with some cotton swabs (Q-tips) and was wondering if there is a more effiecient way as it is very very tedious, and more so with my car as it sat for most of the summer not running.. any input is appreciated.

thanks,

nupe

Yup, just pop them out. The center ones will be more work but you can do it.

I wouldn't go that far. I would just spray them with some kind of cleaner and run them under hot water.

I see what you're saying but if I recall correctly the far left vent and the far right vent are screwed in from behind the dash...so what to do now? (assuming my assertion is correct)

Hmmmm....I don't remember them being screwed in. Its beena while since I've messed around with them but the last time I did. I thought I popped them out with a flat head screw driver. Someone will need to confirm this.

Someone will need to confirm this.

the center vents on a '98 are not screwed. One can pry them out with a small flat blade screwdriver wrapped in a piece of cloth for protection. Dont know about the side vents though.
I assume all 4th gen are the same.
