anyone feel like answering a kinda stupid question??

i have a 96 max with 112K on it... it runs fine but ever since i got my intake i get the urge sometimes to floor it so i can hear that roar. some time while drving on interstate or some streets i gun it and the rmps jump to 5-5.5k and then jump down ... i was wondering if this can cause any damage to my engine, i know it has never gone past red because i have an auto.. but i am curious if going to that high of an rmp when you gun it can mess somethng up.... any info would be appreciated.

don't think that will mess anything up...but going WOT all the time can wear your engine and tranny down a lot faster.

your engine is capable to shift up to redline every gear.

There is a reason redline is all the way up at 6.5k...

You can rev up there all you want and not worry.

I know the feeling of wanting to gun it for the roar but don't forget the trans on a max is built for smooth shifts, wot, and flooring it increases the chances of slipage and frying your gears. If your going to do this then install a Valve body job (stage 2 street/ track) and a trans cooler. Added insurence. Just remember a trans rebuild is $2000 plus. Keep that in mind

When you have the urge to punch it, do so. Why punching the car once in a while is good for the car. You burn all that unwanted carbon build up:; dont believe the BS hype, like Ben just said it has a redline take it to 6.5K if you dont have MEVI take it to 6K. Enjoy!

you mean you can shift before redline **** i always thought it was bad for the car to shift earlier because the car didnt seem as fast maybe thats why my last engine only lasted me 30k

The car w/the stock intake manifold drops out of the power band around 56k. Look at the dynos. No need to take it to redline unless your SCed. If you have a MEVI take it to redline because the car will keep on pulling.

that probably menas your tranny is on it's way out... if it's not shifting right, then something isn't right.. beating on it by redlining it will only cause it to die faster.

basically redlining the car is like sprinting whiel you're running a marathon.. the car is designed for marathons. if you sprint, you're going to run out of gas (wear out parts like the tranny and engine) sooner than you would if you drove it easy.
redline it all the time, and the tranny will last a fraction of what it would if you drove normally.
redline it occaisionally, and the life will only be shortened a small amount.

Stop being chicken butt and bump the rev limiter a few times, get it out your system you will feel a lot better.

(I will not be held responsible if your piston goes through your block)

But for real enjoy your intake, that sound can be intoxicating
