Follow up on kwiklift

I had posted before that I was buying a kwiklift and some people had an intrest in it. I said I was buying it for a project I was working on. Well I threw some images up on my server before leaving for work today. These images are huge though since I have not resized them yet at all. So If you have a slow connection be ready. But I am really happy with the way it is working out so far.

For my project car I couldn't be happier with it. It really saves a lot of time that is wasted just trying to get the car off the ground or wasting time trying to get in workable positions to finish something.

If you want check out the link for my project that I have too on cardomain at the link above. But again lift pictures can be found on SuDZ.org

If you have any questions on the lift shoot them out at me and I will fill you in.

The lift has a few options for pricing. I think for the basic kit is starts at about $950.00 or so on the site I linked to. But that is just the ramp . I went for the full kit which got me:

The kwiklift (obviously )
Approach ramps
Wheel blocks
Powdercoating of lift
Bridge that lets you put a jack at ramp height to lift the tires still.

I wound up paying $1295 plus $100 shipping. For the safety it gives and the ease of getting around I love it and would go for the price again. Someone asked before about if it was sturdy on the ramp and I can tell you it is. While on the ramps we have been in and out of the car from removing the exterior or standing on it pulling vinyl off the roof etc. It has not budged an inch.

For the 260 I don't want to go the V8 route. Instead I am thinking about going the turbo route. I am looking at taking the engine out of a turbo'd 280ZX and dropping it in. Size wise everything matches up including the mounts so there is no fabbing that has to be done. Which is nice because if I ever want to go back nothing has been altered that can't just come out. If I go that route I will upgrade to a 5 speed instead of the 4 speed that is in there now and swap out the rear end. Basicly with the engine, rear and tranny swap your looking at low 13's possibly 12's. With going for a bigger turbo and some engine work I can look at heading down deeper into the 11's. Some have gotten as low as 10's around the 400HP mark or so.

but that will come later. Right now I am getting the body back, the brakes back and the engine good enough to drive comfortably for the summer. Next winter will become project time again and I will track down an engine.

Very cool, sounds like a good investment for a project car.

Even for my Maxima it was nice because I just drive right on and I am set to change the oil or work underneath on whatnot. Or I threw up a quad on it that we were working on as well just because it was better than laying out on the ground to mess with it. The thing is definantly heavy duty and should last me a very long time. So I figure if over the years I use it on my cars or other friends and familys and it just makes it easier all around then it was money well spent. I could have the thing for 20 years for all I know.

Yeah I threw them on my server just for me basicly but then figured what the heck. I think it was Dave B who was asking baout them before so figured while I was thinking about it here at work might as well throw them on.

hmmmm

nifty that you can jack it up. that was my main concern, I normally never use a 4 post lift, 2 posts are my friend

My Mustang is my project car, too bad the maxima gets all the attention.

About 22 inches. That is to the tire though, so if the underbody is another 10 inches or so then you will get 32 unches out of it.

Your in my area roughly. Well after your move I am not sure how close but if you ever need to give me a IM or an e-mail and we can work something out.

Old school Mopar is nice. I have known some people with rock solid motors. But I had a '94 Intrepid that _everything_ went on me at say 70K or so. Other people with newer Dodges have had the same issue. Old school nice new stuff (granted not really MOPAR) I would avoid like the plauge.

that's awesome man! i just saw a 74 260z f/s near me for cheap and really would love to do that as a project car but i'm not sure if i can afford it. pm me if you get a chance and tell me more about yours. i checked out your page and signed the guestbook.

the lift seems like a really smart move too...must be very nice and convenient.

Wow, you saw one near you? They are pretty tough to find since they were basicly just made for one year (74) and only here in the states. Other countries went from the 240 to the 280. What kind of condition was it in?
