How much money can I get for this car?

Hi, I am going to sell my 95 maxima se 5spd. It has 240,000 miles on it...but regardless it runs like a charm and there are no problems at all with it. It also has a new clutch, redded out taillights, and front clear bumper lights. I bought it for $4,200 last year. But I want to sell it now and I just hope I can get at least $3,000. How much do u think i could get?

the mileage is the scary part no matter what you say to the potential buyer, maybe a compression test on all the cylinders would help in your sale and to get the $3,000 you want.

if your car is in mint condition, and has passed inspection in the last 90 days, you may luck out by getting close to 3 grand. A car with this many miles likely to need A LOT done, so it may not be worthy for you to put any $ into it.

Are you sitting down? If not, do so promptly. I have a 1997 Maxima SE that I bought new. I have put very near 300,000 miles on her(295,000). To say that I am a mainenance freak is an understatement. I have EVERY receipt for this car since day one totalling over $10,000 in maintenance and replaced parts. Car runs great, works great. I'm looking at getting rid of it now and I knew going in it would be worthless. Most wholesalers I talk to will give me $1500 for it. No more, no less, that seems to be the standard number.

i did some rough math...

2003 - 1997 (2004 dont count yet)

6 years

12m per year 6x12 = 72 months

300000k per 72 months = 300000/72= 4166m per month
1m = 30d so 4166/30 = 138m per day.
138@60Amph (unless you have the autobahn or no cops close by) = 2.3 hours driving time/day.

so 30dx72= 2160 days in use @ 2.3 hrs/day = 4968 work hours.

yes i know its not diesel and that actual operation time is not as crucial, but that gives you an idea of the overal usage.

Compared to:

A. Trucks/buses your car is sparkling new
B. You are right in par with taxis.
C. If that were a plane it would still hold 90% of its value...
D.The average car, its worthless.

I am amazed... Wish i had the stoicity to drive that much daily for all those years.
