HELP- OIL light is on after I messed up shift

First of all, my car has been burning oil since I got it. Second of all I have ACT clutch.

Ok I was going 80 in 3rd when I meant to shift to 4th but went into 2nd by accident....The oil light came on and stayed on....I then pulled into jiffy lube to get a top off (I was desperate) My oil level was fine but I told them to add a half qt anyways cause I know I'll need it in a couple days. PLEASE HELP ME DIAGNOSE THIS, I NEED MY CAR FOR SCHOOL AND WORK EVERY DAY!!!!

Pray that it was the oil pressure sensor going south (doubt it was though considering what you were doing when it happened). If you drove more than a minute or so with the light on you're probably screwed and it's time to start shopping for a new engine. My friend and his wife were up here (MD) from NC over New Years and were driving her '98 Accord V6 w/110K miles on it. Her oil light started flickering about a mile from our house and came on solid just as they pulled into our local Honda dealership. Well, they're now $3600 + one week of car rental poorer (had a used engine put in). Honda quoted $5600 to repair the engine.

I had a similar situation where I was driving aggresively going from third to fourth, and missed fourth (ended up in neutral). The RPM's went way into the red. The car ran fine for a day, then the oil light came on the next day and the engine sounded like no oil was going through (sounded like a diesel). I immediatley drove the car to my mechanic and he determined the oil pump was shot. It had actually broke into pieces and was close to getting into the engine. I was VERY lucky.
If it is the oil pump, be prepared to shell out big bucks. The pump alone is over $200 but the labor to get to it is the killer. I believe it was around 10-12 hrs.
Good luck.

Well from what you stated earlier, going 80mph in 3rd than misshifting it to 2nd at that high mph, i'm pretty sure you went well past redline and the engine is toast. But who knows, it maybe something else. Go get it checked out ASAP. Goodluck.

Instead of shelling out the cash to replace the damaged valves get a complete engine. I sent you an email w/prices. They start off @ $155.00. Yes for a complete engine

He should probably get the engine checked out first.

Jay is absolutely right, my motor is already sh*t. It burns a ton of oil and doesn't feel as strong as it used too just a few months ago. A new motor is the best Mod I could do at this point!!!!

Thank you for all of your responses.
