I was just wondering on your guys' feelings on blacking out the chrome window trim on my black max. I have the autoventshade ventvisors on the car and they cover up some of the trim so I was thinking about either blacking out the entire trim or getting rid of the ventvisors which I would rather not do because I do like them. Heres a quick photoshop of what my car would look like with the blacked out trim:

do you like how it looks? Buy some of the vinyl tape (I think that's what they used) and do it for a while and see if you like it. If so, make it permanent. If not, take the tape off and go back to chrome.

I have been thinking of doing the same thing I have black vinyl to cover up my door handles so they look like yours, but I am unsure of the window trim. With my rims I kinda like the more bling look! what cha think?

My windows are tinted with a metalized 45% film. I know its not very dark but when the sun hits it just right or at different angles its pretty dark. I am considering getting it redone with a darker film.

Anyways, heres a comparison between the stock chromed window trim and the photochop:

I like the blackout look. I am planning on doing mine when the weather gets a bit warmer. I got some Trimbrite Blackout Tape at Auto Zone.

Personally I like the chrome accents. I'm almost considering swapping for some GLE chrome door handles...

I tried using the trimbrite stuff, and it came out like crap. I wasn't happy so I peeled it all off....I just couldn't apply it all in one piece...it was many pieces. I sanded my chrome trim and painted it. Now after this harsh canadian winter, a lot of it has chipped off and looked like crap. I plan on having it professionally re-painted this spring....but has anyone been able to do this successfully?

Thanks for the info on the Trimbrite. I think I'll try it anyway, but from your post it may not work very well. I was hoping it would, cause painting them is a PITA.

if you keep the ventvisor! Black it out!! partially doesn't look really great

If not, it depend if you like the chrome look or not!

Hey...I have a Gxe and hated the chrome so I used Blackout Tape from Auto Zone to black it out and it came out great. If you do decided to do it, take your time and fill every crease or else you'll end up with bubbles.

chrome or black window trim preference for me would depend on the color of the car itself. in your case, black trim looks better with black paint. in my opinion, anything chrome sticks out too much and looks gaudy on a black (or similar dark color) car.

if my car was black, I would ditch the chrome that came with my GXE. it's not too much of a big deal to me against beige paint though.

I am severely retarded. I cannot seem to use this black tape stuff properly. Did you do it all in one piece, or had to make multiple cuts around the corner? Can you please post close up pics? My chipped up chrome trim gets me extremely angry everytime I see it.

on black cars, i feel blacking out chrome is a must. i love the look of an all backed out car. i think a darker tint would also look much better on your car.
