Stolen car, and dealing with insurance....

OT: This is not Maxima related but I hope you guys can help me out...

My friend had his truck stolen from his college a couple of days ago. He just removed it, and it's pretty much stripped of any valuable things, audio system, wheels and tires, body and engine parts are gone. I'm thinking that the truck is a total loss. Does anyone have any ideas on how to deal with the insurance? Or any helpful links? Please let me know.

Thank you,
Alfonso

If it's totalled, then he's going to be hurting. They will just give him value of the car. Depends on the insurance company, they may or may not pay for extra value of the mods.

If it's not totalled, insurance will have to replace everything. This means they usually will pay for the moddes parts.

Either way, documentation is important. Pictures, receipts..etc.

I'm with Geico now. They send me a sheet to put all the mods I have. I gave them a detailed list of everything. They covered everything for just +$50/per 6 month on the comprehensive part of the policy. Not bad consider for less than $10 a month, I have a peace of mind.

i work for an insurance company and more times than not we deny aftermarket parts since since we dont know anything about them until of course they are stolen or damaged. 1max2nv, good job actually putting them on your policy. i usually tell people when i see their cars(after it is damaged) what to do to get it covered.

if that many parts are stolen then its probably a total loss and he's gonna get the fair market value for the truck only, unless the ins. company had knowledge of all the custom stuff.
