Just ordered RT cat: what gains can I expect?/
Ordered it from a local dealer for @182. 2.5inch. I am thinking at least 8-10 hp to the wheels with the use of the NOS. Just have to get some drag radials and a progresive NOS controler and I'm in the 13s.

I think it'll be 2-3 at most. I didn't feel any gains.

I gotta agree with Wicked. I thought I read some posts where people were showing some good gains too.....Anyway, I'd like to know whether it really adds any HPs or not too, since I'm thinking about getting one. If it's only up to 3HP's, then probably not worth it.
I'm going to say maybe 3-5hp. The main thing that it did for me is quieten down the y-pipe sound and change the tone of it. It made a BIG difference in that regard.
However, don't expect it to have the same effect as an intake. You just won't see it.

I dont know about doing all those on the same day or anything.. but his dynos seem to say that the gains are there.. how much of course, is still debateable .. you should ask him a few in depth questions or something if you really care

He will only get 3-5 hp with NOS???
He wouldn't get more because of NOS.. Would he get more with a Supercharger??

I'm on my second cat. The brick came apart on the first one and after three months the new one is starting to rattle too. I wish I kept the original cat!!
Good luck.

Both. The better your exhaust flow, the more you will get out of your SC or Nitrous setup.
He might get 3 hp with RT cat off the bottle, but might get as much as 6 hp with RT cat on the bottle. Same reason why Supras get 30hp gain with the y-pipe/down pipe and we only get around 10hp. I know is not a good comparison, but you get the concept.

So, is getting the RT cat useless? I need to redo my whole exhaust system. I'm planning to get an Apex-i N1 universal exhaust, Stillen B-pipe, and RT cat. That should make my system a full cat-back system, right? I already ordered a Warpspeed Y-pipe, so that's taken care of. Do I need the RT cat to make my system a full cat-back? I heard that the stock cat is a decent cat and that I don't really need to replace it. Any ideas? Thanks.
RT Cat
1MAX2NV got the right idea. The gains are in percentages. Also remember that the cat is at the end of combustion cycle, so it frees up horsepower, rather than adds any. So, with a stock intake, the benefit may not be that much. With a CAI the benefit will be greater. With a CAI and Y-pipe the benefit will be greater still. The RT cat will help the exhaust to flo out faster, so the new air can come in faster, too, and in the end, more horsepower. It's a relative factor.

I second that!
My dyno but was pleased with the test pipe!
The RT was cool but little to no power according to the dyno butt...
Butt-dynos on highly in accurate. More noise from gutting the cat makes one "think" they are making more power. I've never seen any proof that a "test pipe" works on any late model NA car. Usually it ends up taking away power.
As for the RT cat, I noticed nothing, but I wanted it to get rid of the drone. My car makes a lot of torque which maybe related to the RT cat. I hate to say it, but I believe RT's dyno run on the Maxima about as much as I believe UPRD dyno of the ECU (ie BS)

From what you guys said, it seem useless to get the RT cat. I guess I should spend my money elsewhere. I think I should get a Stillen B-pipe. That should go nicely with the Warpspeed Y-pipe.

Well Dave next time your in New Orleans you should come by and check out my Dyno-Buttometer. Its a nice model... LOL
Anyhew, I have to say it feels better than the RT cat for sure. I took mine off when I put the test pipe on. The low end did suffer but the top end is much stronger. I'm going to the track on 3/28 so the tale will be told then...
