Ooops I was going to say Super Charge it!

But I just checked your sig and you have a 93, Dang!

Plan B,
First thing I would do is,{in order}
Buy springs and shocks=$600
Buy some 17's and some tires= $1200ish
Cat Back exaust=$500ish
Buy a body Kit=$1000{paint}
And if you have any money left over get a Worp speed Y-pipe=$300ish

Well this would run you about $3300,give or take a little. It really depends on your prioraty's,mine are in order,handeling,looks,performance. Seeing that you have a auto performance is not on top of your list,unless of course your car is a hand me down. Best of luck with your mods!

Hooking up the max is one of the best idea's i've heard all day...however...Why drop all 3300 at once. Drop a G to a G and a half and invest the rest. Buy a couple blue chipers, or take a shot in the dark and invest in some life insurance stocks. Check out www.etrade.com, open an account, was the smartest move I ever did. Tripled my money on...get this...Abercrombie and Fitch. Go figure!

That's the smartest idea I've heard. I know people just want to burn cash when they get it, but the market has been so bad lately that you can buy tons of large company stocks for relatively cheap. I mean most tech stocks are around their 52week low, and we all know that they are eventually going to go back up. I mean who thinks Intel is going to go out of business?

You could invest it, pay it back (it is a school loan, not funny money) or if you want to play, get a more current MAx and sell your baby... Maybe a 97 Max...????

the answer really lies with how long do you plan to keep the car.. if you plan to keep it for 1 - 2 years.. save the money... if you are going to keep it for 4 - 5 years then you can use the money on the car..

keep in mind if you keep it for 1 - 2 years if you trade in or sell it.. most people are not going to give you the value of the money you dump on mods.. dealers sure as hell don't care.. actually they will drop the price..

You can spend some, and invest some, stocks? i dunno kinda risky.. you might end up with more than what you invest, but you might also end up with less, and if you don't know what you are doing its going to seem all too confusing... Mutual Funds i think are ok, because they grow over time.. stuff like that.. low risk...

If all you want to do is go fast then just get a NOS kit.. low 14's high 13's easy.. and you will still have over $2000+ left..

I would say the Y-pipe before the exhaust. If you want power do the Y-pipe, if you want sound go for the exhaust.

For $3300 you could buy an 86 Mustang GT and beat the hell outta it... V8 Torque! Or buy a 1991 Kawasaki Ninja ZX11 and do a 1/4 mile in 10 sec at 135 mph!

LOL-That's what I said 6 months ago and it keeps going down-down-down. But you're right, now is the time to buy. As ridiculously overpriced as tech stocks were 12-14 months ago, they are now as ridiculously underpriced.

Personally I don't like etrade. They got these maintanence fees now which bite. Anybody use Scottstrade? Sorry for being offtopic.

the thing that I like about scotts trade is that they have branch offices in which you can just roll up and deposit more money instead of having to mail in a check and waiting a week for it to clear. ya knowwww.. he heh.

anyhow stock talk is depressing me. My picks are taking a beating. I don't even like to think about it.

I'd say buy some springs and tint the windows or maybe a car stereo. It all depends on what you like or don't like about the car. Then I would invest the rest of the money in 2 year treasury notes or "I" series bonds. Since the stock market is so flaky right now. Eventually your going to have to pay that money back. I'm not sure what kind of money your going to be making when you graduate but 3K is alot of money to most people.

If I were you I wouldn't spend too much on power mods. If you want more power sell your car and buy a 95 5sp. The 95 are the quickest and the have the most avalible power adding options.

Have fun and enjoy the ride.

Wait, wait.. You're interested in handling but you bought a 4th gen Max/I30? I find that funny. That automatic tranny quote is quite funny to. Auto=No Performance? You've got yourself fooled.

#1....

I have the same car as you and first thing I would personally do if I had 3+ grand is sell this car and get a nice fully loaded 95 or 96 5spd.... but thats me..

ok, umm.. #1.. i'd make sure the max is in top notch condition, if there is absolutely anything that needs fixing, I'd go ahead and do that... check all major parts....
then, I'd get little things like a tranny cooler, VB mod, or shift kit to pro-long the life of that Pesky auto tranny. New Full exaust set up, Intake, ECU upgrade, body kit, rims, stereo..... 3g's spent

Re: nitro??

In the begining NOS got a bad name because people didn't know much about it and were blowing up their engines left and right, but the evolution of NOS is here and it is very safe to use... read this article by Matt aka MardiGrasMax it explains how NOS works.. its a great power adder and there is really no reason to fear it anymore.. now things are automated where the ECU can be moddified to activate NOS at a certain rpm and shut off at a certain rpm... FastEN or something like that had a NOS 3rd Gen Max running low 14's high 13's I think.. Bryan aka Squishy had his 3rd Gen running consistent 13's with NOS

ask them for advice if you need more info on NOS
