236hp and 216tq.On a mustang dyno at that, the dyno guy said the mustang dyno is used for tunning and is reads 20% less than a "regular" dyno. Its a s/c VR6 I have personaly ran 13.35@107.44 in the car and walked a 2K C5(I had to push it past 100mph but than I started to pull away) Tons of mph on that car. I know I know this is a Maxima site and I still love my max, but when you can walk a Vette. That deserves some respect. And yes I did walk it look at the mph 107 a vette is like 102-103(stock).
O yah, he also got almost 25 hp to the wheels with the use of the Spearco water injection(he uses alcohol insted of water)

I not calling BS on the C5 kill, BUT a well driven C5 will easily hit 106-109mph in the 1/4 mile depending on tranny. The newer C5's LS1 is pumping out even more torque and are running high 12s stock. Then there's the Z06, gulp, that runs 12.4s@115mph and many owners have bolted on slicks and pulled.......high 11s!!!!! The VR6 sounds cool, but I'd take a C5 over a hipo FWD car anyday. Nothing beats driving a well built American V8.

BTW, I've never heard of a "mustang dyno". There are three types of dynos I know of. The Clayton, Dynojet, and stand alone engine dyno (requires the engine to be out of the car).

I am surely not doughting any american sports car. Damn, my boddy has a 98ish comaro with usuall intake, exh.and a 4500 stall, with that combo and slicks he runs 12.3s@110mph.(1.6) 60ft time ouch!. Its just cool to be able to run with them on the treet with only 2.8 liters of motor(in the VR6). I have seen a couple of the ZO6 vetts, BAMF yeow!!!

I think someone said this before but...

The reason american cars are so fast or get faster as they get older is because almost all of the plastic trim and stuff falls off after a few years. Buy an import and I guarantee you that wont happen in a couple of years if it does you got a lemon. My parents bought a 1997 boneville supercharged. Nice car pretty quick for the size yet a few days ago we closed the trunk and the bumper cover fell off. A month ago I closed a door and the trim fell off, american cars just are'nt made that great. I'm not putting a good old american sports car down. I just dont want peices of my car flying off as I drive down the road.
The jettas are pretty quick I'm sure the car was not only superchagrged though. What other mods did he have, ecu chip, exhuast?? If you wanna be walking people just buy the new m3 or m5. I'd go with the m3 for 40,000 less than the m5 and its 4.8 0-60, only .5 seconds slower than the m5.

I thought stock C5 does low 13's in stick and Z06 does 12.8?
12.4 is as fast if not faster than a viper and 996TT.

Dave-

I can vouch for what 98Max states. My last car was setup exactly like the car hes discussing and I would walk even lightly modified C5's as well. Mine put down 260 wheel hp/230 ft lb on a Dynojet at 9 psi of boost and with water injection. With the 25 shot of nitrous I also had, it made 301 hp/281 ft lb. So, hes not BSing.

The Mustang dyno is quite popular now and many shops are getting them instead of a Dynojet. They are an absorption type dyno, rather than inertial like the Dynojet. The Mustangs also read lower than a Dynojet every time.

Woodear-

The newest Motor Trend has the Z06 running a 12.5@114mph on street tires. Take the Z06 to a well prepped track and low 12s are easily possible. 114mph trap speeds indicate easy high 11s with traction.

The 99 C5 hartop was tested to run 13.3@109mph. The new 2001 C5 has 20 ft/lbs more torque and 5 more hp. The new found torque is all thru out the powerband. The new Vette's are over .5 seconds quicker on GMs testing track...pretty significant. I haven't seen a test of the 2001 C5, but I know there are a few guys hitting 12.7-12.9s with drag radials.
