Two-Tone or NOT!!!!....opinions welcome..

ok...here's the deal...my car is as shown:

Now...here's the situation, I've been planning on repainting the car this spring...and was going to do it myself and use the opportunity to learn a bit about painting the car. Well, my mother in her infinite wisdom says..."you should keep the car the same way it is now" Keep in mind that she is not the first and likely won't be the last person to say so. I can honestly say that I've gotten more compliements about this max than my others that were one solid color.

So now...I'm asking opinions here...also if any of the photoshop experts are around...see if you can take some of the pics from above or my site and somehow tie in the green/tan...I'm open to all ideas...

Let the flames begin
:wall:

MacAlert 03-25-2004 12:00 PM

Dear God no. Please make it one SOLID color.

NT2SHBBY 03-25-2004 12:04 PM

ONE COLOR...just say no to the multicolored-I was too cheap to paint my car look

and if u can swing it, PPG paint ;)

DA-MAX 03-25-2004 12:06 PM

Ola...please, please do ONE color...the two tone was cool for the "transition period" and it would be different, but IMO its not gonna work permanently homie!! :D I vote all black!

happyricefob 03-25-2004 12:07 PM

one color please.

007max 03-25-2004 12:09 PM

dear god no! one color please!

nadir_s 03-25-2004 12:12 PM

make it superblack!

NYCe MaXiMa 03-25-2004 12:20 PM

so is it a 95 or 97?

95 frame with 97 engine and trans, with 97 front and rear conversions? is that accurate?

and yes, one color please..

how can anyone think the 2 tone thing looks good?

Chris91SE 03-25-2004 12:25 PM

:slap:

that is all :o

nupe500 03-25-2004 12:26 PM

NYCe...

You're absolutely correct in your analysis....

looks like one color is the clear winner so far...but that Black mess has got to GO!!!...I may stick with the beige or something close...don't feel like changing the entire color of the car..cause that means I gotta paint s h i t I really don't wanna paint...:slap: myself...being a completely lazy fook!

nupe500 03-25-2004 12:32 PM

how about...if I repainted the car one color...and left the body kit black?....

metallic97gxe 03-25-2004 12:35 PM

have the kit pinted black and paint the rest another color or leave it Pebble Beige Metallic the underated Maxima color..hahahaha

BRIGBOY 03-25-2004 12:47 PM

Camo-max !! Looks like a hunting mobile ! A black/white/gray camoflouge battle max....you know what I'm sayin Nupe, when you get paint make it something original. Its scary decisions, but you do need to get that car painted :) Painting the kit would be cool I loved that one paint job the blue max with a silver kit, anyone remember him?

Jeff92se 03-25-2004 12:53 PM

I Vote 3-tone

Don't be hardheaded and listen to mommy's words of wisdom or she will give you a butt whipping which you would rightly deserve for doing such a gay thing to your car.

I would do all beige with a black bodykit, but I see where people who like the two-tone are coming form.

BUT if you want to do two-tone...

I would make it so that the black is equal length across the top of the car. This means that instead of the whole bumper being black, only a portion the size of the roof would be. Same thing for the hood and trunk. Find the thinnest part of the top of your car, and do a strip that size fown the top of the car. Then if you want paint the side strips and gas lid black. It will look like this 6th Gen - I think it looks sweet.

Maxima99SE 03-25-2004 02:06 PM

one color!!

CCx 03-25-2004 02:09 PM

Ola, keep it two-tone, repaint the whole thing in two-tone so it looks better...

VQdriver 03-25-2004 02:30 PM

your car looks like my S13 with silvia front end conversion. i'm anxious to have it all painted. however, i need to finish the suspension, brakes and build the motor before the final bodywork and paint. the bad part is cops always follow me around b/c it looks shady. lol i say stick with pebble beige all around including the bodykit. black body kits are rice =P

That angle sadly makes me think UGLY GALANT.

========

Go with Daytona Blue.

max95q 03-25-2004 02:37 PM

I think the only maximas that looked good two toned were the 2nd gen 85-88 maximas. That sixth gen looks nice. I saw a guy who copied my factory two tone onto his Ford Expedition.

meccanoble 03-25-2004 03:22 PM

i say take two very popular colors (black and blue or black and green but not beige. Beige can look good but if u gonna paint car, dont waste it on beige. Paint hood, trunklid, spoiler, and kit in black and the rest of the car in sky blue or something.

optimus310 03-25-2004 04:07 PM

THat looks awesome. More like 3 tone since the kit doesn't shine.
That might be my next mod. Talk about JDM style y0!

wariow 03-25-2004 04:52 PM

paint each part of the car a different color! sterling mist, pebble biege, superblack, pearl white, forest green. then it'll be pimping... right?

LOL..ok..go for it...

nismos14 03-25-2004 08:13 PM

do the kit green and the rest of the body tan :D

|Bijan| 03-25-2004 08:46 PM

neptune blue monochromatic

† ErV † 03-25-2004 09:07 PM

two tone is for service vehicles. unless you want to put some government issue steelies on it and a 6 foot antenna on top, paint it. :)

I like it.....a bit......something looks wrong though. I like the idea of a 2 tone max.

K Pazzo 6 03-26-2004 10:13 AM

add more colors

bk2kmax 03-26-2004 01:50 PM

Two-tone is too tacky and I think it is totally fugly. Stick with one color.

Ninos_Maxima 03-27-2004 08:29 AM

How come they made 2 kinds of gold, Sunlit Sand, and Pebble Beige, Anyways I think u should stick with the gold since your interior is not black, and it would cost a crap load to buy the interios

Max03girl 03-27-2004 04:41 PM

oh my.. not. please don't.

phast92se 03-27-2004 05:27 PM

two- tone CAN and i emphasize can look good if done right but if your gonna be painting it yourself, i would go with one color. but if you really want two-tone seek an expert.

Disagree two-tone looks tacky no matter how it is done, it can never look good, even an expert can't make it look good no matter what colors they use.

It also looks like the person can't make up there mind what color to have their car between the two colors.
Good luck though, personally no one with good taste would do this to their car.

Feel free to flame.

naijai 03-28-2004 08:56 AM
