"Only premium" sounds TOTALLY like one of us! :)

DoGGy 03-26-2004 09:51 PM

hahahahha

91 octane for life. i dont even think twice about it. Maxi deserves the best it can have ;)

$2-$3 a tank equals out to about 10 bux a month difference. we waste enough money on mods, why not spend some on good quality gas?? :D

Ninos_Maxima 03-27-2004 08:24 AM

But you do get more gas mileage with premium, Who in there right mind would want knock, its bad for your engine cause it goes into safe mode, Stupid people, someone should go teach them what a knock sensor is!!! lol

Matt93SE 03-27-2004 07:43 PM

Hmmm, no difference..
then why the hell does my engine knock, ping, and bog down when I run 87 in it?

FanaticMadMax 03-27-2004 08:17 PM

that's a good article. It's interesting that higher octane is denser and "more energy" to start that fuel. That's something new to learn about octane. Thanks for finding this good article.

happyricefob 03-27-2004 09:28 PM

my max worked hard. she deserves nice 91 :)

Nismo 03-27-2004 09:35 PM

HAHA they think 1.99 for premium is high

"time to get max and buff"

naijai 03-28-2004 09:02 AM

ever since my knock sensor bit the dust been using 87 but once the new one comes back in then back up to 91

MaximaPolak 03-28-2004 09:14 AM

hahahaha. Who puts less than 93 octane in their maxima? NOT ME! :wavey:

Wisky97SE 03-28-2004 12:00 PM

I also only put premium in my car, if im going on a long road trip; I'll slack a little and put 91 - 92 octane at the cheaper gas stations around here, otherwise its usually Sunoco 93 or Ultra 94.

nismos14 03-28-2004 03:46 PM

always ultra 94 for me

Maxima95Tuner 03-28-2004 04:04 PM

Good article. I always put in 91, but would probably put in like 93 or 94 if it was available around me.

gto400no1 03-28-2004 04:29 PM

interesting artlicle but im still gona stick with my 93 octane!

"I would stop driving rather than use a lower grade of gasoline," says Andrew Martschenko of Boston, who drives a 2003 Nissan Maxima. Nissan says premium is "recommended" for that engine — automaker code for regular is OK, but you'll only get the advertised power on premium.

If the price difference between regular and premium grew to $1, Martschenko says, "Then I might consider trading down" to regular.

That pretty much reflects my sentiment.

Paul89SE 03-31-2004 09:12 AM

My Max loves 87. No knocking or pinging (unless it's Marathon)
