Anyone pulling a jetski?

Want to see if Max is powerful enough to do that. My concern is the car's ability to pull the loaded trailer uphill from the water. What kind of gas mileage you're getting when loaded.

btw my car is 5spd

It should be a piece of cake. How much does the jet-ski weigh with trailer?

I estimate 700 lbs max, but really want to get an idea of how will the Max pull it up the ramp from water.

I have no doubt the max can pull the weight, the issue will be as you said the pulling out of the water and also when you lower the ski into the water the exhaust getting submerged into the water. On the FWD traction is gonna be nonexistent on the ramp since its so slippery. Like on my explorer, when I go to drop the ski in the water, the weight transfer to the back axle and since its AWD, it aids the pulling of the ski out. I wouldn't advise this Kon....

For what it's worth I have seen v-6 firebirds pulling jet skis as well as other cars. They usually aren't the bigger ones, so maybe they get them close to the water then have help to pick it up or slide it the rest of the way. I imagine you could do it no problem deppending on your jet ski and the ramp you would use. Find an easy grade ramp on your lake.

You are missing the point, firebirds are rwd, Huge difference. Maximas will just spin under load up the ramp..... Its all about weight transfer....

The guy who's selling the jetski is pulling it with his Civic, I just didnt believe him. The jetski is Polaris 650. There should be a way to load in water w/o backing up too much, and traction problem could be solved by carrying two wooden boards. Now I gotta find out where to buy a dn install the hitch locally..

700lb sure is light for a jetski. Mine weighs with trailer 1100 lb. But the Max easily pulls it. FWD, just use the parking brake to hold you and slowly let the clutch out and release the parking brake at the same time. Just do it slowly and you will be fine.

Guys, don't forget FWD isn't in the water, its on the ramp still in a more dry, less alge area. It's not near as slick as the ramp in teh water. You ever walk down a ramp and feel like your on ice? That is how it feels in the water on the ramp. FWD cars have a tendency to do better than rwd on ramps, due to this, but if you give fwd too much gas, yes it will not go anywhere except spin and down the ramp more. Getting the exhaust in the water will not hurt the car at all. It still blows the exhaust out in bubbles. My car has been as deep as the whole rear bumper submerged, but no issues.

No problem at all!! jetski weight nothing!!

One of my friend pull a boat heavier that dmontzmax's one with a Mazda 323 hatchback 1990!!!

An auto would be easier but using e-brake with a stick would be even easier!!

04Maxkiller there seems to be alot of Einsteins here that dont have a clue about towing. We are talking about a jetski not a 3500 lb plus boat.

Still doesn't matter my friend. Jetskis are heavy enough to cause problems. Seen many people have problems even pulling a Jetski out of the water. But then pulling a 3500lb boat would be a completely different beast. I would not do it with a fwd car.

The guy who owned my boat before me used to pull it with a honda civic, so I would think a Maxima should pull a jet ski. My boat is around 1,000 lbs and 17'

It really depends on the angle of the ramp and its condition. Even RWD's will have problems if the conditions are unfavorable. I would say 95 % of the time you will have no problem.

I used to have a 19' Mastercraft and before I got my fullsize 4WD we used to pull it out with a 4 cylinder Izuzu truck. I would give power to the boat to give him a push when ready to pull out and pray we didnt have to stop at the top of the ramp. Needless to say we tested his clutch a few times but never did get stuck. We had it down to a science...LOL

If its really a concern, I would consider buying a used truck beater to tow the ski. Altho, my neighbor has a 2002 Galant and he doesn't have any problems towing or lowering the ski on and off a ramp either.

if its not a heavy jet ski then you can back the trailor up to about where the ramp is goin down and just unhook the trailor off the hitch and ease the trailor down the ramp using your hands and feet. but it would be slippery anyways so i dont know, just a suggestion, ive never seen it done with a car but seen plenty of 4clyinder trucks do it. I guess it just depends on how steep the ramp is

i pulled my kawasaki 750 stx(3-seater) with my 3g max all summer...never had a problem gettin it out of the water but i have an auto...just do what everyone else says and use the ebrake to help you get out...and the ramp where i dropped it in was pretty steep...but the max definitely has the power to pull the jetski...the ride was a little rough since my car is lowered...and your brakes will wear out very quickly...gas mileage drops alot too..i would recommend not towing for a long distance either...also if you dont want to back your max to far into the water so the whole jetski is submerged, you can back it in so the jetski is half in the water and then rock it off of the trailor...thats what i did so my max didnt go into the water
