Lucky bastard at my job bought a slightly used 2000 Blue M5 for 66K. Of course he let me drive it and all I have to say is - GOD- DAYAM- ! The pull on this car is unbelievable and it feels natural unlike the pull I get from the Supercharger. I fed the throttle lightly all the way to 7000 and the tires were slipping and I shifted to 2nd and fed the throttle halfway still trying to grab traction finally shifting to 3rd and flooring it still trying to bite the asphalt....at this point Im doing 100+ and I have to slow it down quickly for the light coming up and the brakes hook up perfectly with no fade what-so-ever and it stopped on a dime without the suspension dropping in the front. Didn't get the oppurtunity to drive it on the twisties but the steering feels heavy and very stable. I love the interior and the leather buckets feel like heaven.

He knows I have a S/C in the max and asked if we wanted to have a "friendly" competition.... first one to 120 wins.
I turn on my Passport and he turn on his V1 just in case.
1:30 p.m. we pull up to the toll booth and pay the toll and slowly pull out on to the Dulles toll Rd. No traffic at all so we completley stop on the Road and pull next to each other...we both count 1-2- 3!
Both of us are smokin the tread and I get the hole shot on him, the wheels finnally start to hook up at the end of 2nd and I shift to 3rd coming up on 100. He's right on my rear door and I can see through my peripheal vision he's gaining slowly passing me, I'm at his rear fender and we both shut it down... I cheated alittle because I got up to 125.
My damn stocks and bonds better do something soon... I need an M5.
Those in the DC area, we're going to hit D.C. Live Saturday and of course Jeff will be driving his M5 so let me know if you want to hook it up. Can you imangine the honey's he is going to pull with that Bimmer....

Tbag, you should tell ur friend to swing by the next dc/md/va meet. I'm not sure when that's gonna be, but it will be neat to see the m5 in action. Thus far i've only seen two on the road and so far only grandpas(no offense) driving them.

Nismo808 --- I did metion it to him..I know the fellas want to set up a dyno meet and it would be sweet to get him to bring it and dyno it. He's so spoiled he has no idea how lucky he is. I would baby the car, he already has a door ding! OUCH! He's the kind of guy that would let anyone drive it... who know's if he shows up you might be able to drive the "ultimate driving machine".

Wait, so you hung with a M5? I know that you are supercharged, but still. Don't those thing have 400 hp.? I would think that he'll leave in the dust, whether you supercharged or not.

Can't be 7, stock pulley is 6.5 PSI, 3.33 is 7.5ish 8 so you have to be at about 8.5ish 9 PSI with the 3.25 pulley

If he was to of driven my Max and I was to of driven the M5 I know I would of beat my car hands down. He doesn't know how to control the M Beast yet.
The M5 has the power and tourque and I saw that after 100 mph, he was beginning to pull away. No way my S/C V6 will hang with his 5.0 V8 at those speeds.
The M5 is very luxurious and wieghs over 3800 lbs. But the engine more than compensates for that. Have you ever driven in a Supercharged Maxima? They are no slouches in any regards, but you have to have patients to pull great trap speeds and high MPH because if you think racing just involves mashing the pedal to the metal than happy burnouts! If I was to do that I would smoke the tires through first and second... that doesnt get you anywhere.
All about the driver, so I've heard!

I guess its possible if the max gets a good start and M5 doesn't. His Max is probably making 260 - 280 rwhp with the mods listed. So with all that power and the 1000lb weight difference the sc max might be able to have a chance.

Breaking it down a bit further..

the M5 runs mid 12's?

if Delos (sleeper) can run 13.3 on a stock pulley 6.5 PSI.. imagine what he would run with 8.5 PSI??? and with a 95 Maxima at that.. being that the 95 Maxima is faster out the box than the 98 Maxima..

If you look at it that way.. yes an S/C Max with 8.5 PSI of boost and bolt ons can hang with an M5

No, I haven't ride in a supercharged Maxima before. So, in that regard, I guess I don't really know. I didn't doubted your story, I was just curious. I was planning to go the supercharger route myself, but then the price was just way out of range for me. So, I'm going nitrous instead. Anyway, both cars are really nice. Of course, I would take the M5 over a supercharged Maxima in a heartbeat.

Where is the guy(luvmymaxtoo) with both M5 and SC'ed Max??
I want to hear what he wants to say
I mean his M5 does 1/4m at 12.8, I wonder what a SC'ed Max can do, 13.8?? Plus when it passes 100mph, Max is a dog and M5 just getting started.

Woodear you are right, IF we were dicussing Driver ability.. which is not the topic of discussion here.. we are talking about the ability of a S/C Maxima, so if its my granny driving it or Delos driving it.. the Boosted maxima's potential is still the same

Not taking sides here or anything, but just want to point something out. Your logic is right WoodEar.. How many people can run that fast in their Maximas? Not many..

Now let's reverse your logic.. How many people who own M5's can run mid-12's? In the hands of your average driver those things probably don't run any better than high 13's.

In that case what WoodEar said ALSO gets nulled out. Sheesh. So what is the diff? Ability is nothing with out the proper driver. The M5 can probably run low 12's but not with my mom driving.. It will do best of mid 14's with her in the car. Even my dad wouldn't be able to knock off anything better than a low 14.. They just have NO earthly idea how to launch and shift quick..

Get my drift?

(btw that is just an extreme example don't take it seriously. I have no idea what my MOM could run in a 1/4 mile with an M5...... But I am pretty sure it would be 1 or 2 seconds slower than anything I could run.)

I bet you she kicks the M5's *** on that F4i

well all i was saying is and lets see if i can explain myself

a SC Maxima with 6.5 PSI of Boost is capable of 13.3
an M5 is capable of low 12's
so why is it so hard to believe that a 10 PSI SC Maxima is not also capable of low 12's? hey.. lets just say its been done

oh. lol. well.. I'm not gonna get into that theory junk..

We all know an M5 will whoop just about any Maxima about 99.9% of the time.

But an SC/NOS Max in the hands of the right driver PLUS an M5 in the hands of a BAD driver.. Never know.. It's possible. I don't think TBag ever said he was faster than an M5.. Just that he is a better driver than his friend. If the tables were turned (him in the M5 and his friend in his car) he would have whooped his max.

woah woah woah guys don't get carried away.
a M5 can NOT run low 12's in stock form, shiet it's fast but it's not that fast. low 12's is for cars like Viper and 996TT.
that being said, as a typical low 13's car, the M5 is still faster than a SC'ed Max in my opinion.

lol. I was just pointing out the flaw in your post..

The average SC Max probably runs Mid 14's

The average M5 probably runs mid 13's

A good driver in SC max can get mid-high 13's

A good driver in an M5 can get high 12's

So you are right. M5 wins hands down, but a bad driver in one car and a good driver in the other car.. *anything* can happen..

BTW: My mom never has and never will ride my F4i, she hasn't even sat on it... BTW I believe it runs high 10's

YES an M5 is faster than a STOCK Pulley Maxima (6.5) but Tbag has 3.25 (10)PSI so in essence the Capability of that car is theoretically faster than an M5

now let me get this straight.. i am not trying to prove that a Maxima is better than a M5 in anyway shape or form or that the maxima is the car of all cars.. i am just looking at numbers and theory..

because in actuality.. if you offered me an M5 or a 11 Second Maxima, quite frankly .. i would choose the M5

It seems very likely that a 9 - 10psi SC max could easily do 12's but it's not very likely. Reasons 1) wheel hop 2) lack of a LSD ever see what kind of a start a 270+ hp {at wheels} one wheel drive car has. 3)It's a front drive 3k lbs car. I'd definatly say it capable but no likely unless ur using drag radials. Then again who drives around on the street on drag radials?
