Simple answer for me

Stick, last longer and runs faster than that **** auto in the max but then again if u are in traffic its a ***** but if i can survive with NYC traffic on a 5spd so can u.

STICK

I have an auto and while it is more carefree to drive and all the girls i know want to drive it, GET A STICK. The only reason i got an auto is becuase it was a handme-down from my mom, i almost sold it for a 5-spd, biggest mistake i ever made, not selling it. Most people don't think much of it at first but after a month they realize it is the biggest mistake they ever made. GET A STICK, or buy one anyway and i'll trade you for mine.

Stick is fun to drive and is able to utilize it's 190hp/205ft.lb engine to it's full potential. Auto is better to drive in traffic and is good for having one hand on the steering wheel and the other where ever your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband whatever, let's you put it. Either way, the Max won't dissapoint you.

STICK STICK STICK

i think you can pull further with a stick--they are 10 times funner than an automatic but i guess if you wnat to here about the negatives toward having a shift is that you cant really eat and drive or do anything weird that people do in their cars--

Re: STICK STICK STICK

stick gets better gas mileage and its cheaper to replace a clutch than an automatic transmission...

Re: Re: STICK STICK STICK

my last car was an auto max and I really regretted the auto once I started to want to mod it and stuff.
I think you'll be happier with a stick if you have an urge to mod your car.

Isnt it already obvious which is preferred?

I got rid of my Beretta Z26 cause it was an automatic. I mean whats the fun of racing when all your doing is slamming the pedal to the ground.

Its also a fact that a stick is faster. An automatic transmission robs more power through the drivetrain than a stick does.

The upside to an automatic is the consistency. One of my friends has a '87 Monte Carlo SS (auto) and he can run 15.5 after 15.5 all day long. Some of my other friends with sticks run all kinds of different times...all of which are faster than the Monte...but thats another story.

AUTOS ARE THE BEST!!!

you can drive with one hand on the wheel and pick your nose with the other!!!

I see this like every friggin day...look over in the lane next to me and i see some old dude shoving his thumb in one nostril and his index in the other..shoving it up there too....no shame!!

Stick is hands down the way to go. It makes driving more fun because you are more in control. I had an auto Max before and I am much happier with the 5 speed I now have.

I wanted a stick, but settled for an auto. Wish I had a stick-no comparison in the fun of driving. Much more control and less braking. Left foot still searches for the clutch after 20 years of stick driving. Auto is nicer in the GSP traffic though.

If you want to talk on you cell phone, change the radio and read the paper all while driving then get an auto.
But if you want to drive you're car then get a stick.

I have an auto, just because I looked for two months and couldn't find a fourth gen SE with stick, but of course two weeks after I get my automajik I see my same car in stick on a dealers Lot... DAMN!!
