WELL ENOUGH WITH COSMETIC UPGRADE WITH MY MAX, I THINK NOW IS THE TIME FOR SOME PERFORMANCE UPGRADE...WELL I WAS THINKING ABOUT GETTING A CONE INTAKE (the one that replaces the stock air-box) for my AUTO. so, my question is does is make the car louder at low rpm's like around 2-3k rmp. i know it gives like a grawling noice when you gun it, i dont care about that but i dont want my car louder when its at low rpm and while i m cruising around 60-65. also does it effect your fuel efficiency in any ways? also if you know please post any instructions on this. Please reply if any one has exprerice with this......ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.THANX IN ADVANCE

Spend the Money, get the CAI, it makes the car .4 sec's faster and it makes the car sound like a v8 you will get compliments and you will intimidate Mustang Owners

[Disclaimer}Installing and Purchasing a CAI will result in more people trying and attempting to race you when you go at WOT (Wide Open Throttle)[/Disclaimer]

CAI rocks!!! you will be a lot louder at WOT, but cruisin around is silent. Medium acceleration only makes a light growl, which you can't here with the stereo on. Floor it and watch out...

Here's my take on the intake

I installed a Stillen intake three weeks ago. I didn't want the CAI for the following reasons:
1. With all the snow & crappy weather here in Boston I didn't want the low hanging filter (I would have been dead yesterday with all the floods!) and
2. I didn't want the 3.5" hole in the fender well. Who knows how long I'll have the car and the Stillen Intake will take me 15 minutes to remove and bring the car back to stock.
As far as noise, the intake is noisy when you're deep in the throttle and/or above around 4K on the tach. In normal driving (around town and on the highway), you can't really hear it at all. My wife barely noticed it the other day when she took my car to the store.
So, it might not be as cool as the CAI (no pun intended), but it's a piece of cake to install/unistall and isn't aurally intrusive during normal commuting conditions.

Re: cool

Check that link i posted above.. it has all the information..

and don't worry about snow.. why would someone with NO CAI know anything about SNOW getting or rain getting near the Cone?

Trust me.. i have had it and had no problems.. I live in CT and tell you when you guys got 4 inches in that last snow storm I got 3 feet.. so I get more snow and more rain and no problems..

check the link above.. it has the info.. Floyd Bennet Field i think it is

JWT intake is a better choice than stillen b/c of price. Took 15 minutes to install and does make a 1-2 mpg difference in my mileage. Also much betterthrotle response on the hwy. I did not want a hole in my fender b/c in IA we get lost of snow followed by tons of sand and salt. I don't need that stuff getting up there... PLus when you o to sell your car, how do you explain the hole?

installation is easy. all you have to do is remove the stock box and plug in the aftermarket adapter/filter on the mass air flow sensor.

to answer your first post (gas mileage): you should increase your gas mileage because the engine increases its volumetric efficiency with the filter.

Re: Re: Re: I CANT

the sensor that you pulled out, use the original socket you pulled it out from. put them together and tie it somewhere in the engine.

thats all you need to do. just make sure that the O2 sensor and the MAF sensor is plugged. there should be no problems.

I've experienced no drop in mpg going back to the stock airbox (Poorman's CAI). I'm still getting about 26 overall (70% city/30%highway).

Make sure that you leave in the lower portion of the airbox so that factory intake snorkel can get the cone filter some cooler air. It gets very hot under the hood and in the spring/summer those underhood intake become "hot air" intakes which actually make less power than the stock setup.

Re: where should i plug those?

plug the MAF sensor back in..thats one. the other, just cap it with the plug you pulled from the bottom of the stock setup and tie that to anything in the engine. it wont go anywhere specifically, but just make sure and tie it to something so its not dangling around.
