Are 30 series tires on 20 inch rims too thin on a Maxima?

The biggest wheel I would personally go with is a 19 inch wheel. I dont think anyone makes a 235/30/20 anyways. Remember you want to keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible so you dont throw out the speedo.

Yeah, if you go with 19" wheels I think it'll be possible to try and get the same overall diameter. But with 20" wheels it's impossible.

I appreciate the input, but that really didn't answer my question. I already have the rims and I need to get tires. Are 30 series to thin? or should I go with the 35? I don't care about the speedo...etc. Thanks

I didn't even know there was 30 series tires. But anyways, it all matters on the width of the tire and the side wall percentage of it to see how wide the sidewall is gonna be. I have 35 series tires on my 20's and the width is 255mm. As it turns out, the side wall is actually thicker than when I had the 225/40/18's on my car. So, if you get 30 series tires with a minimum of like say 255mm wide tires, then I'd say you'll be alright. Just watch out for deep potholes. Hope this answers your question

The smallest 30 I found at Tirerack is a 275 and I am sure you will have rubbing problems.

But technically it's only 2.5% off... not too bad.

You're going to have to CRAWL through potholes! I bet it looks good though. You are definitely braver than I.
