1st Ticket with the Max

1st Ticket with the Max
I just purchased my first Maxima less than two weeks ago and my wife got a speeding ticket already. Mind you, this is only her third time driving the car! She normally drives our sluggish Expedition, but has taken a liking to the Maxima. I hope this isn't a preview of things to come, since I'll be adding all the goody performance upgrades in the next few months!

Hey i know that i have gotten more tickets with my max. My old ranger was just to plain jane for cops to pull over. The cops seem much more likely to pull me over in my maxima then in my old truck. Not because of speed but just based on looks.

He has a stock maxima. Why would the cops pull his wife over for having a stock car. Hell, I have clears, tinted tails, shaved trunk, loud exhaust and they don't even look at my car when I drive by.

Umm yeah. Probably 90% of all cars that are pulled over for tickets are stock. So why WOULDN'T they pull her over? It's more than capable of breaking just about every moving violation on the books.

Indeed. Unless you are standing out with neon, gold wheels, mirror tint, straight exhaust, etc you will not be pulled over based on looks.
However, I will give you this. In a situation where you have two offending vehicles, the one that gets more attention will likely be singled out from the group and pulled over.

When I had a Ford Escort, I got a few speeding tickets. Then I got a Mustang GT with loud exhaust and tinted windows. Never got pulled over for speeding only once for Unsafe start.
Now two years with the Maxima and no tickets.
Its not the car but the driver and how you drive. Fast in traffic and keep switching lanes and your going to get caught.

Right. If you're not doing anything wrong they more likely won't pull you over. It's that simple. As for that 90% are stock cars, I completely agree. Think about it, the ratio of stock cars to midified cars in the states is at least 100 to 1. Who do you think cops pay more attetntion to? They look for the rice boys cause usually the driver of that car is a dumb teenager or is as smart as a his LED windshield washers. Of course they target women too but that's another story. Like I said before, if you didn't do anything wrong don't worry about it.

Yeah my car is bright red, ive been pulled over twice the whole time ive had the car, once for speeding (cop let me go, no ticket), and once for no front plate (cop was a complete b!tch and it was a busy night for them). Both of these were in different cities than where I live, around here cops dont even look at me. I think it matters if you are in the right place at the wrong time. Doesnt matter about the car, but around here I tend to notice that they are a bit racist and go for the non-white people. Trust me, it happens.

Whenever I ride in my bro's 99 Mustang GT (which he converted to make it look like a cobra) the cops ALWAYS look at us. One time we were in traffic just driving normally when we see this cop way behind us weaving in and out of traffic like crazy. He finally catches up to being about 100 feet behind us. He chilled back there the rest of the highway drive home. Apparently, he just wanted to watch us to make sure my bro didn't punch it. Plus, whenever we travel by a parked cop on the side of the road, he just stares us down to oblivion. As for being pulled over, my bro has a clean record. Cops don't pull him over JUST for having a tricked out Stang. But I'm willing to bet that if he DID get pulled over for speeding, the cop would be less apt to give him just a warning.

glad you guys dont live in colorado springs...ive gotten pulled over so many times its not funny just to see if i know something about cars being jacked, or saying i was touching the white line...just dumb reasons...seems like you can get pulled over for anything here its ridiculous.

Thats it! The light turned green and I lit them up, There was smoke every where. When I got through the intersection, I saw the police coming the other way, I let go of the gas and did not go over the seed limit. He followed for for about a 1/4 mile then pulled me over. The worst part is that was right in front of my apartment. Good thing it was after 2am, no one else saw me getting pulled over..
Things you do when you are young.

When I was young and foolish I used to get pulled over quite a bit. But I learned some basics in my old age:
• Avoid frequent lane changes.
• Don’t cruise in the fast lane.
• Use your turn signals.
• Have no illegal mods, they’re just a cop magnet.
• Don’t own a bright red or yellow car.
• Don’t speed past the traffic flow.
• Scan your rear view mirror constantly.
Now I haven’t had a ticket in 18 years.

At the age of 22, I do all those things you listed Magellan so I'm inclined to side with you. I've had one ticket in eight years and it was for doing 87 in a 65; car was stock back then.

i dont speed as much as i do in my max compared to other cars. i drive a lot faster in my moms accord even though its a 4 banger because it is auto. i have a heavy foot and in a 5 speed that doesnt matter because you can control what gear your are in manually. in autos the heavier your foot the lower gears u will be in. i dont think i could ever buy a auto car.
