What rims do you have that fit without spacers? I have some 17x8 +35 wheels that are too small. I'm thinking about just changing the fronts to 17x9 but it might look too funny.

That will depend on your brake setup... rotor backspacing/brackets... etc.

Wheel offset is not the only factor... Both my Lowenhart LH5 and OZ Superleggeras with 35mm offset rims have over 1/2" of spoke clearance with Superlites because of the spoke design.

5Zigen FN01R-C 17x8, 35mm... I hope they fit, cause they're on order now!
Voxx/MAS MGR, 17x8, 32mm offset... fit.
MHT E-tune, 17x8, 35mm... fits over 300Z calipers if you file the NISSAN logo off (now that's close!). so they should fit over the superlites since theyr'e about the same size.

This kit is from Precision Brakes. My mounting bracket to the front of the caliper is about 5 1/4 in. I have the 5zigens and they don't fit. I know about spoke designs affecting clearance, that's why I'm trying to get some ideas of which rims fit.

What size are your wheels Chunger?

Kosei K1 17x7.5 45 mm offset, dont fit (duh) currently using H&R spacers with them

TSW VX1's 17x8, I think they have a 35mm offset, they fit

Assuming the spoke design is okay, you should be fine. I had 17x7.5" +32 offset Q45 rims and they cleared with plenty of room. Now I have 18x8.5" +38 offset and they have about 5mm of clearance.

How much more space is needed to allow the 5zigens to clear? How thick are the rotors that come with the Precision kit? did you get a template from Precision?

They are the same as yours. 17x8 +35. I hope your calipers or brackets are different from mines. I did a quick test fit and i'm guessing about 10mm off.

I bought the kit from another member so I didn't get a template. I was hoping it would fit but I am out of luck. Rotors are 13x1.25.

GRRRRR... well guess I'll be sticking with the dynalite calipers I have on there currently.. I was told the wheels would fit over the superlites since they fit over the OE Brembos on the 350, EVO, and STi.. guess it just depends on the company that makes the rotor.... I'll see when they get here. I've got dimensions on both calipers, and I can use the dynalites to check and see if there will be room.

Matt check the design specs from the Wilwood website, they will show how much more the Superlites will stick out compared to the Dynalites... It shouldn't be more than 3 mm in most cases.

Wilwood's specs show the front thickness (from the face of the rotor to the outermost point of the caliper) as 2.15" for the forged SL.
the forged DL shows to be 1.71". I'm not sure what mine is as I'm using the regular Dynalites. they should be very close to the forged, but we all know better than to assume.

(check that.. just looked up the old papers I had when designing the kit. the older DL was 1.65" and the old SL was 2.09". )

so I'll be going from 1.65" to 2.15". gotta make up half an inch.. even my current wheels may not fit, let alone my track wheels!
I'll do some more measuring tomorrow when it's light out. If all else fails, I'll pick up the forged DL and go that route.

edit... was outside so I decided to stick my hand between the spokes and caliper.. nearly an inch of room with the dynalites on these wheels. hopefully the FN01R-C will too. Then I looked at my hand.. DAMM these Ferodo pads dust horribly! hand was completely black just from grabbing a spoke and caliper.

hmmm... i'm using the NDL calipers (1.92") so I guess it's different than the normal dynalites... Well I guess you'll just have to see when you get your new rims...

FYI - Wilwood is coming out with 1.62" piston sized Forged Billet Superlites soon... the 1.38" are very close to stock SA and the 1.75" is too large.... 1.62" is still a little larger than I like but I don't think they will come out with a 1.5" piston version.

I have some good news. My bbk does fit under my current rims. I had installed it wrong before. My kit didn't come with any instructions so I didn't know where things went. I played around a bit and bent the backing plate back so my rotor would have more space. Then I switched the caliper to the other side of the bracket and my wheels now have less than 1/4 in. of clearnace.

Yup.. the FNO1 look like they're going to fit.. wheels came in yesterday and there's plenty of room between the caliper and wheel now.. the superlites shouldn't be a problem.


The current calipers I'm using now have the 1.75" pistons, so I'll probably scale it back a hair with the superlites so I don't screw up my rear bias.. but I'll have to do some calculations before I do all that.

The actual model of the caliper doesn't affect bias. If you get the same piston size, it will be the same bias... Only WEAR will be affected.

but... 1.75" pistons are HUGE...

I did the calculations on the AP kits... SA total is 3.83 in2....

my superlites are 1.38/1.38 bore, gives a near stock pedal feel. I like it a lot more compared to my old superlites that were 1.75/1.38
