How to deal with stuck screw?
I'm trying to install a CD player on my car. But God damn it the mounting screws of the old radio are really tough. I use the best screwdriver I have but still can't get two of them out. What should I do?

I had the same problem. Put the screwdriver into the screw like your going to take it out and get something solid like a rubber mallet or a pair or pliers would even work. Then give the top of the screwdriver a couple of solid smacks! That sould break it loose enough for you to take the screws out.

if you have a wrench small enough to fit the shank of the screwdriver, you could use that while pushing against the screwdriver towards the offending screw. or if no wrench is available, use a pair of pliers or your grip to turn WHILE pushing against the screw.

the ones on the radio are a short, stubby, counter sunk, philip's head screw.
Like 5-spd said use a box end wrench that fits the handle of the screw driver. that should give you enough leverage to break it loose. just push down on the screw driver and then turn the box end wrench...if all else fail, use the dremel tool like nismo said.

gosh. all these violent ways of removing screws. Just use a hand impact. like this http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...2&categoryId=0
They're designed to do what you are saying. And useful if you ever have to pull rotors off of a honda.
