ecm harness
Guys,
Does anyone know -- if you have to replace the ECM harness.. do you have to go all the way through the firewall or is there a plug on the inside of the firewall?
My harness that goes to my ECM needs to be replaced for reasons I mentioned earlier, and it's a very expensive job they say they have to go through the firewall. One would think on a newer car there would be a plug inside the firewall so you could easily replace that harness.
Is it wired to anything else behind the dash ? Or is it just two plugs? One plug to ECM and one plug to firewall plug (or engine plug, whatever)
Any diagrams would be appreciated, too, if anyone has.
Thanks in advance,

Regards to ECM harness,
The Ecm. harness can be replace from the inside of the car,the harness connects the inside of the car through what is known as the SMJ connectors which are located on the driver's side of the car below the fuse box.The SMJ
connectors are rectangle and white in colour using a ten
mm.long bolt to lock the connectors together.Their should be two of them.
Good Luck!!

Hmm.. wow, thanks. They are telling me they need to go all the way through the firewall and it's a ten hour job, just to replace the ecm harness. (The wires close to the connector to the ECM and the plug that goes into the ECM are a little butchered) ..
Sounds like NOT a 10 hour job (and they said $675 for parts)
thanks,

Why so expensive? It's just a 10-foot bundle of wires with a plug on each end, right??
