2 short 1 fast = 0201 = Ignition signal primary
6 short 3 fast = 0603 = Cyl 6 misfire
5 short 12 fast= 0512 = ???

The other night, I took a drive in the rain. After the car sat for about 1/2 hour, I started it up and it ran like hell. It wanted to stall but didn't. Ran really ruff. It eventually worked itself out. The next day driving to work, the SLIP light from the traction control system came on as well as the MIL. Started running real bad again. Then it straightened itself out. Thought it might be a short from the rain in the traction control system. It was running like it would when the wheels are slipping and the traction control limits the rpm (however it does that). Maybe it thought the wheels were continually slipping.

Any insight? It will be going to the dealer this week. Now, should I remove my CAI or leave it on???

Dude -- how often has this happened? Did you put the CAI in recently? I am getting similar probs with my i30t and they cannot seem to diagnose it. They are now blaming my ECM harness... so lame. Have you had any aftermarket electronic work done?

let me know what you find out from your dealer. This could be related or just a coincidence..

good luck,

I've had the CAI in for over a year now with no problems. Nothing has been done expect rewiring the corner lights, PIAA bulbs and an RT CAT. No alarm, no stereo. All stock.

The Maxima's ignition system is pretty straight forward. ECU sends signal to the coils and the coils fire the plugs. Since your Max is a 1999 and hopefully you still have warranty. Take it into the dealership. Maybe it's the cyl #6 coil, but I rarely hear coil go bad.

Joe,

Did you ever solve this?

As I said in the other thread, after almost a year of not happening, it happened again tonight. I am pi$$ed.

I'm tempted to blame it on the cold - it was cold today.

But I'm wondering if you (or ANYONE) has figured out this issue.

thank you
