Just tuned-more response

Just spent like 2 hours putting new NGK's in my 97 i30Twith 106k. I also seafoamed it, blew a ton of smoke out the back. Results? Much zipper and more responsive.I hear there is some sensor by the throttle body that you can remove and "file down" or sand off the wear and the car will run better?? But i dont know what it is called or if it exists...BTW ANYONE WHO IS THINKING OF SELLING THEIR S/C please contact me--! thanx

Welcome to the ORG.

I believe Araffio has a Stillen V2 for sale in the Classifieds.

It's a motor treatment that people swear by, similar to BG44K.... here are some links where seafoam is mentioned from a search I just did:

Thanks for the hook-up rich. Have you tried it in your new max?

nah, I only have 17K miles on the car... I don't think it's necessary yet. I did use BG44K last year, didn't notice any difference (I probably didn't have any serious deposits yet for it to clean)

To the users of Seafoam; would you recommend its use in a 87 Maxima with 80,000mi?

you'll get better answers in the fluids and lubricants forum. You should start a new thread asking the question there: http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=70

It surely did not make any difference in my 95 KingCab truck. I would not try it on my Max at all.

I put in some Seafoam this weekend. A can in the tank, half in the engine and half in the break booster. It blew out quiet abit of gray/white smoke. The idle is about the same. I have a 96 with 127,000 miles. Oh!, I drive like a grandma.

Why did you put it in the brake booster? It will always blow out smoke because of burning it through the engine. I hope you meant that you put some into the engine by using the vacuum booster hose.

Maybe you had better pickup because you needed new plugs?

What proof do you want? I used it, it made no difference. That's it. Why not just buy a bottle of ATF and put a teaspoon or two into the spark plug holes? That actually works for the carbon build up inside the engine and costs $1.20 a quart.

there is a strong arguement that seaform is bad to use on an old engine. some say it's better to leave all of those deposits in the engine instead of having the engine chew through tons of old carbon.

also i think the only difference you feel is because of the spark plugs.

glad you like your seafoam. in my opinion if goes along with octane booster and other 'miracle' fluids you put in your gas tank.
