Are PIAAs dot approved....
got pulled over and have to go to inspection. Copper said all "blue" lights arent dot approved other than "Lexus and BMW" type headlight (zenon). Anyways, I thought PiAA were? What about other ones like the Hiper brand? Thanks
I read somewhere that the PIAA super whites are DOT approved. I have the case that they came in, in the garage, but my dad cleaned the garage the past weekend, and I can't find it. But I do remember reading that they are DOT approved.

what wattage
are your Piaas? I have the original box for the headlights--and on the box, it says DOT approved--there shouldn't be any problems since 65/45 (stock wattage) bulbs are not even that bright...
but hope that helps...you can try to check this out too on the piaa website...i recall reading it being DOT approve on their site.
hope this helps.

Go to the PIAA web site at: http://www.piaa.com/piaabulbs.html
The give a description of the bulbs and where (US/Canada) they are approved for on road use.
If the bulbs you installed are leagel, take a copy to the inspection to show they are okay.

Fight the ticket and take it to court. You've got tons of proof on PIAAs site to show that they are not illegal.
The reason the other bulbs are not DOT approved is because they have too high of a wattage rating. The PIAA bulbs that are DOT approved will say that they are right on the housing for the bulb. If you pull the lightbulb out of your car, and look on the plastic part it will say DOT, and is legal. If it doesn't say DOT, pay the ticket.
