Fixing/Replacing E-Brake sensor.

Searched the stickies , even read the manual ove and over, it shows nothing. Basically my E-brake sensor broke (don't ask how). So i got another one and i installed it the way i think it should have been( i'll take pics) now when i pull up the E-brake the light on my cluster does not come on. could it be a problem with the sensor or wiring in the gauge cluster( ie. light)
Thanks
