Guys/Gals...

If your front end is still in decent shape.. of if you have a new car, or just reapinted... get stongard. Wow I love this stuff. I mean it's insurance for you paint. I had it applied to the S2000... and I am telling you, the fact that you are not worried about the paint is just reason enough to get the kit. But the fact that it will actually prevent paint chip is even better. If you get hit by a rock that would normally chip, it will leave a white mark, but it will go away in a matter of hours... leave your paint damage free.

I just put on the light kit... wow, you really can't tell it's on. And it's thick. So it's really good insurance for the headlights. BTW they also have them for the fog lights... prevent rock cracks for sure! Wow I love this stuff...

If you need an installer... www.stongardgeorgia.com has an installer Cory that flew out to install my kit. these guys are great! very professional and helpful.

unless they are say 2 inches away, it must certainly should. I suspect that some of those rocks are travelling a bit faster than a rock down the freeway at 80mph... push no sharp edges.

damn... i'd buy a shottie... fill up some shells with rock salt. I'm sure after you "cap" one of these hood rats, they'll think twice about doing dumb $hit again.

By the way... im just kidding

But i do think its really f***** up. good luck.

Shing, about the install >>

Does it REALLY require the Stongard people to install. I mean, Stongard is made of 3M Scotchcal, which is used on aircraft to prevent erosion. The material is similar to that of the decals used on cars. Couldn't any bodywork expert with experience applying decals be ok to do this job? I'm thinking that even "professional" tint job guys could do this job.

Just a thought.

Yes it does. I thought I could do it myself, but when the stongard guy came and applied it.. I helped, and it's a PITA. And not it's not like decals. This stuff is like applying tint... the key is to make sure the edges are placed right and making sure that there are no bubbles... if you can imagine doing this one a piece that's the entire size of the bumper.

Well I guess the correct answer is, I couldn't install it myself on the S2000, then again stongard admits that it's one of the hardest kits, the max might be easier.

I am interested in this 3M stuff, but a bit confused: isn't the same tape that Xpel and clearmask sell? I see that the prices vary significantly, anyone know why?

yup:

1) stongard kits are more complete... the include door edges as well as door handle cups, and event he mirror post if it is applicable.

2) the kits covers more area... for example, the front edge of the hood tucks under the hot, doesn't just stop at the edge.

3) stongard kits are completely pieces.. in other words, the xpel kit has cuts in them to make install easier... but those cuts show and it's an extra place for dust and dirt to catch.

4) those are retail prices... for example, my my s2000, the retail pricing on the headlight and the complete is is I think $600ish. I got mine done for $650.
