It depends on which kit you buy. There are ones (namely the one from Leatherique) which will work wonders. I have personally seen a Ferrari 328GTS using leathique, who switched from tan to black, and nobody could ever tell it was ever tan. It dyes the seat from the inside out, as a factory would do it to hides of a new car. The Leatherique dye will work on leather and vinyl.

Then there's the stuff you buy at Pep-Boys, which may look ok when it is applied, but will crack and scuff and expose the previous color in weeks. Then again for the price, you could do it 10 times and it would still probably be cheaper than the Leatherique kit.

my buddy bought carpet spray paint stuff at autozone and it doesn't run and seems to be great. it was called an upholstery and vynal paint, don't know how well it works on vynal though. william g, metallic97gxe, used it in his trunk to paint the stuff black and i guess it came out great too. a few members have painted their dash and stuff but i'm not sure how it's held up. i think if you don't use the right stuff for the dash, it'll crack. i think the name of that stuff that's supposed to be good is g-2. if i see anything i'll post it here but otherwise, goodluck.

I used DupliColor Vinyl and Fabric Color for my trunk, rear dash, and head liner. Worked perfect for me. I dont think I'd try painting the dash, seeing all the problems from it. I've painted many interiors and every one scratches, chips, or dirtys up too fast. Could just be the abuse ppl put it through, who knows. If I were you I'd do black accesents and stick with the tan interior.
