All that's wrong with my car right now

I was just thinking about all the stuff I have to do to my car before I can start spending money on my turbo kit again and I got depressed and decided to post. Here's the list as I can think of it currently:

1) New CV joint (going to replace whole axle) passenger side
2) New front and rear motor mounts
3) Figure out my MEVI activation problem
4) Two new tires because after 3 years I still have done nothing about my camber even though I have had camber bolts sitting in my garage for 2 years, so I go through 4 tires every year (april-october)
5) New front struts (I am going to put this off until spring and then buy D2 coilovers with pillowball mounts and solve the camber problem, front strut problem, and the fact that I am tired of the limited suspension travel of GCs, all at the same time).
6) Maybe get a new CF hood some day because my crushed and rusting corner on my stock hood is getting really old really quickly
7) Clean my dang engine bay I've never cleaned it in the 3 years I've had the car and I don't think it was ever cleaned before either, so yea i'ts got 9 years of dirt in it and it really ticks me off when I go under the hood and get all dirty from it.
8) New front passenger side mudguard because I broke it on a speedbump
9) Some rattling noise coming from my exhaust somewhere, sounds like a loose bolt.
10) Not really a problem, but just something that ticks me off, no JWT ECU anymore and this weekend no more Y-pipe so my car is going to feel slow as heck.
11) Vacuum hose that's too short and keeps popping off my intake midpipe whenever any moisture gets near it so I get to go under the hood while its all wet and muddy and use a pair of pliers to stick the thing back on or else my car stalls out at stoplights if I don't keep my foot on the gas.
12) Needs to be washed since I had to drive on a dirt road in the rain and that was about a month ago, it's still caked with dirt and rather embarrassing but I'm too overwhelmed by all the other stuff I've got to do to the car to even go out and wash it.
13) Interior needs cleaning since I haven't done that since last summer
14) needs new plastic trim around the steering column because i broke it trying to install my summit switch last year, so it looks like i hotwired the car lol
15) need to hide the wiring to my summit switch it's just sticking out of the ashtray going under the floormat which is the current location of my summit switch
16) need to clean up the wiring in the engine bay and my door jam from my 2 year old mevi install...

heh

if I took the time to think that hard about all the small annoyances on my car, I'd have committed suicide by now.

don't sweat it, think about the respect a lot of us on the .org have for you and your car, it'll make you feel better.

Oh and my ECU is still sitting underneath my passenger side floor mat too. I never installed the JWT I just let that sit under there for a year and a half and now I'm doing the same thing with the stock ECU I'm using lol my car is ghetto rigged.

haha.

dude, my car has a missing tooth (half a DC clear missing), my floor mats and carpet are caked with dirt, my dash is covered in dust, my headunit broke so I'm using a noname knock-off $80 ebay replacement that skips every time I go over a bump, I have sand from the beach in my tweeters, my girlfriend's footprints are on my windshield (lol), I have a dent in my y-pipe because the front of my car is a lot lower than I'd like it to be on sprints, I have a dent the size of a dime on my trunk right where it curves around to the top (impossible to fix), and my passenger side front tire rubs a piece of broken and hanging underbody shell stuff when I make left turns.

... if that makes you feel any better. =p

hah! Glad I'm not the only one in this club

Just recieved my LCA and Parallel Link bushings today, and I picked up 2 new axles today aswell . Camber bolts are in the garage still and need new tires. Haven't washed the car in about 5 months, and have only driven it 4 times in the last 6 weeks.

Need a new rear tranny mount since mine is cracked, tranny could really use new syncros, motor mounts need to be filled, need to install new exhaust gaskets, and I need a new drivers rear wheel bearing, oh and clean the shims/pads on the brakes.

use the hood release grommet for your wiring though, makes it easy and its already there

What I need to do (in random order):
1) New Tires
2) Alignment (maybe camber bolts)
3) New right front brake caliper
4) have rotors turned
5) fix annoying rattle in driver's door
6) fix annoying a-pillar rattle
7) install new transmission that's been in my garage for 2 years almost
8) wax the car since I havent done that since it got painted 2 months ago
9) get left rear window re-tinted, it has bubbles
10) fix/clean front seat belts so they actually retract on their own
11) get carpet and seats steam cleaned
12) new battery
13) re-do subwoofer mounting so I can actually access the spare tire

I'm sure there's a dozen more

How much is it to fix cv joints or get a new axle? I just started hearing the clicking noise on my 88 max last week.

www.raxles.com

Call 'em up.

A passenger side axle for my car was $125. Yes, that's more than autozone or somewhere, but raxles is the only place that uses NEW joints, not remans.

That's why I have a beater. My beater never needs cleaning or atleast I don't want to clean it. I'm still driving around with a bad clutch master cylinder. Every morning I would have to pump the clutch to build up enough pressure so I can back out of my space.

I am very relieved that I am not the only one with problems.
I get so damn annoyed when I start to think about the things that need to be replaced or fixed on my car. I spend a ton of time in my car and I want it to function the way it was intended to function and plus some because I'm modded.

Neal, your ecu is ghetto rigged in my car too...

That's the way it likes to be though. I seemed to work great in my car rigged like that so hopefully it will in yours too.

oh btw I forgot to add another thing to my list, my windshield. Stress cracks in all 4 corners from road racing and one of the corners leaks when it rains hard and i open the windows for a little air movement. oh and the reason I have to do that is because i never got my air conditioning recharged after hitting a deer, so no AC for me. Oh and my horn never got hooked back up by the body shop after i hit that deer also, so I've got no horn either. dang my car sucks.

6)go back to meineke so they can fix one of the hangers that is just hanging on the side of the car instead of in the rubber.
7)fix trunk issues (just get a new friggin trunk)
8) dynotune
9)find out why fog lights arent working
10) fix boost gauge (vacuum leak)
11) properly install LED for MEVI trigger inside car.

13) install roof spoiler (gotta clean the last traces of 3m tape off)
14)find 2 bolts to hold my passenger side mudgaurd on before it completely falls off
15) find a way to keep passenger fender wall in so SC CAI filter doesnt stick out and scare me everytime i drive in the rain

Took care of #4, 9, and 12 today because I was feeling ambitious after mike called me and told me my car was a piece of ****. Actually i just rotated my bald tires to the back but at least I have tires with tread in the front now. Found 2 washers hanging on one of my exhaust hangers that were rattling making noise, and washed it and even took pics since I never took any pics when I got my SSRs last year.

Bought my 87 Max from a guy in Manhattan in June. He told me there was nothing really wrong with it besides the exhaust being horribly rusted through.

I LOVE it when guys have not idea whats going on in their cars.

Everything that was wrong with it:

1) Driver's door doesn't open
2) Large dent on driver's side passenger door
3) Dead A/C (I'm leaning towards a bad condenser)
4) Worn drive/timing belts
5) Car running on its original tranny fluid (17 years, 78k miles)
6) Broken e-brake cables
7) Engine/tranny mounts completely shot, engine looks like its trying to escape the car on acceleration
8) Dead shifter bushing

And my personal favorite, and the one that will leave you all laughing...

9) Car had not had its braking system checked in 17 years, 78k miles. When I checked? Front passenger side rotor was completely shaved down on the outer side to the thickness of a piece of notebook paper (see what happens when you don't turn your rotors?). Now, why was the rotor shaved down to nothing? Pads were completely worn away, so the actual metal of the pad was shaving the rotor down, to the point that the pad was heat warped. Couple that with 2 seized calipers, and you have one hell of an afternoon fixing brakes.

Since buying the car, I've fixed numbers 9 (duh), 5, and 6. 1, 7, and 8 will be done within the next 2 months.

After all repairs are done, gonna start up on the upgrades.

1) Replace stock headlights with Sylvania Silverstars
2) Install spoiler
3) Put on a set of PIAA fog lights
4) Replace inner door lights with clear covers and Xenon White lights
5) Install FSTB
6) Drop in a set of KYB GR2 struts, and find a set of Eibach Pro spings, somewhere...
7) I'd like to get a set of black rims, but if I can't find any that I like, I'll throw on a set of 15x7 ASA JS1's on Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 tires
8) A 3rd gen manual transaxle conversion, followed by a CAI install
9) I'm itching to install a Knight Rider'esque digital display in her, but I'll probably have to settle for reverse indiglo gauges
10) Have engine bay and underbody cleaned, replacing any rusted parts as necessary
11) Seafoam!

Hmmmmm...........this is what I need:

1) 4 new rotors
2) 2 new rear calipers
3) a new center console
4) a new 3rd brake light
5) repaint my hood and rear bumper
6) Clean up the wiring under my hood
7) pick a set of new wheels
8) Decide whether I'm going to do 300ZX brakes up front

I need to:

-clean leather
-buy rear leather i30 seat
-install Exedy clutch when it arrives
-send Spec stage 1 back
-break in clutch
-go to track and better my 14.35 time
-save money for JICs
-put some new 235/45/17's on the car
-get SSRs re-finished or just buy two new ones

so far this year i've done:

-1 clutch/fidanza flywheel install
-brembo blanks and Hawk HP pads
-bought 17x8 SSR Comps
-repaired exhaust after I broke it at the track

Future mods:
-JIC FLT-A2's
-NX wet kit
-10 lb. & 5lb. bottle
-JWT ECU w/ NOS daughterboard
-NX Heavy Duty Fully Automatic Bottle Heater with Gauge for both bottles
-NX Automatic Remote Bottle Valve Opener for hidden 5 lb. bottle
-purge kit
-bottle pressure guage, a/f guage
-SAFC-II
-hide everything under the hood.

thats all I can think of at the moment

EDIT: oh yea one more thing and that is to hunt down MaxedOutR34 and kick his *** since he never sent my black chrome bumper lenses and ran off with my $35.

Neal, are you still coming into town this weekend. If so, I am sure Brian and I can help you fix up some of the problems you listed with your car. I have a few things that I am going to work on this friday.

yea i bought a half shaft yesterday and im bringing it out there so we are gonna do that. i've fixed up alot of the stuff i mentioned. my car has never been so clean as far as installation of the MEVI and associated hardware goes. you know all those wires that were running all over the place? gone. you can't even tell the MEVI is there now except for seeing the manifold itself. i am probably gonna claybar and wax it when im out there too. i've never used a claybar on it and im sure it could use it, my back bumper is about as rough as sandpaper even after i wash it
