New Maxima/Import Store

hey guys,
i think me and my dad are going to start designing a new store somewhat like CustomMaxima or SWA. I was wondering what you guys think about this. Good idea? Bad? Any suggestions you would like to see on the site? Forum? How To's? Also ive been type to think up for some cool names or logos. Anybody got some ideas? I think im going to set up the site with OsCommerce.org I know im going to have to keep up on the customer service. Well just looking for some opinions or suggestions.

Thanks

Sean

Forums, DIY how-tos, FAQs, also better prices than custom max(ebay FSTB, CAI etc etc), maybe some JDM parts? Also cheap shipping to canada, none of this $30 shipping for a $9 FSTB ! !

Have all that and my max will be pimped with your gear.

ya the prices will defiently be lower. I just spent 107$ on 2 fog lights from CM. Thats insane. i think i will product a sticker for all those sticker freaks. Im think to think of a cool name. I thought of The POWERBAND, or something along those lines.

how about _POWERBAND

goes with nissans whole redline shift ad things

But if you guys did manage to get a online store running and got some good prices you would get alot of customers who dont want to pay what CM is asking.

also shipping is a big thing for us canuks, so we cant really buy ebay stuff or it will be 3x the price.

right not it will just be a online store. Depending on its sucess i would gladly open up a shop for ppl. I would love to see a Nissan Specialized Shop around this area. But i got to start small. What would you guys really like to see. I mean we all would like this and that but what are some NEEDS. Im still in the design phase. Hopefully this will be up and running by spring.

well first you need the parts to sell, contact the manufactures that make a lot of nissan parts and a lot of maxima parts as well:

cattman performance
greddy
hks
stuff like that, cuz if you are gonna be an authorized dealer you need the supplies to fulfill the demand right? oh yea also, when you come up with your name, don't forget to register it so no one else steals your name and stuff, i believe you can do it at like the city hall or something. just have a nice variety of parts, definatley get some jdm parts, cefiro headlights would be good, jdm badging, carbon fiber parts, popular exhaust components, ypipes, catbacks, hi flow cats. just contact the people that make the parts and become the dealers for them.

good luck with it man.

if you really wanted to get your business started off right you should put an end to the 95-96 red clears dilema. many have said oh yeah ive got a connection and etc. but if you are serious about starting this shop up and want to make some killer profits from the start make the red clears.

The problem is though, there isn't ALOT of maxima specific parts out there, I mean, Custommaxima and SWA carry almost the same stuff. They even had to include alot of universal stuff, foglights, seatbelt pats, light bulbs, etc. I just think it would be tough considering the small amount of Maxima specific parts out there.

ya thanks guys for all the response. I will do my best with the shop. Ill let you know when it is offically open. It should be early spring. I plan on trying to get the best shipping, cheap prices, and be available to call 24/7. I know some of these are the most important things about a business. I will really look into the red/clear idea.

You are:
Japanese Domestic Market, refers to cars only sold in Japan but not necessarily manufactured there.
JDM: Civic Type R

I opened my own business more than two years ago. I co-own an emergency warning company that sells equipment to fire, police, ems, towing and construction firms. Take it from me, you will not survive in the long run unless you serve a larger market. You will not be able to survive very long just selling parts for the Maxima. While I think it's a great idea to have more variety, like others have said, there's not a huge selection of Maxima products out there. Your two biggest competitors, CustomMaxima and SWAW have proven my point. They both started off by selling strictly Maxima performance parts, however, both of these companies have over the years started selling equipment for other cars, like the Z, Sentra and Altima. Good luck in whatever you do!

What his plan is is to be a distributer of maxima/Nissan Parts.
Hes not planning on becoming a manufacturer of Maxima parts so how the heck is he going to produce the red/clears for 95-96 maximas.
The main reason their not produced right now is the cost for the mold and that many Co. do not see a big enough demand to start producing them.
Yeah, many org mambers want them. but to a big Co. to invest the $$ in manufacturing them thats not enough.
If he can offer good prices, great customer service and a quick turnaround time, he should do okay.
But you would have to cater to other Nissans because I dont see a big enough demand in Maxima parts to keep a business running. Their just isnt many parts out there because the demand for them isnt as great as it is for the for cars such as Hondas.

I said WHAT JDM stuff not WHAT'S JDM. There is almost no JDM stuff for the max cause, surprise, there is not JDM max persay. The cefiro is more like an I30 not the max.

Unless you plan to develop and manufacture your own custom parts don't bother with opening a shop. Since there aren't that many parts for the max your only way to succeeed would be custom parts. Custom parts mean money which i something maxima owners don't have, we're all cheap, thrifty bastards who base their prices in comparison to civic parts(not me). You have to open a GENERAL tuner shop, with parts for many cars, that specializes in maxima parts.

Unless you have some serious captial you will have a hard time competing with these guys. Its not a matter of HUGE overhead with them, its buying it and very large amounts.

But hey if you can get great deals better than anyone else then you got my support. Let me know if you need some help with site design and/or forum help :P

Whoa thats dope, My suggestion is to have a good customer support, and if you rip any body off Well rip your ***** off. Trade eye for an eye yah? But anyways(lol) I think just the prices would help your buisness start off well, remember the first few months of any buisness you dont see profit all you see is loss, unless your Microsoft.
Umm I think JDM Stands for Japanese Domestic Market
