all i got left to do is put the starter, battery and tray and the intake back in and put fluid in the tranny.
i cant wait!! i blew my stock tranny in the beginning of june and i havent driven her since.
doing a trans drop is a lot easier than i thought it was going to be .. i dropped it in one day with little or no help and i put it in a few hours. i followed the directions from a haynes manual.
hobby shop opens at 12 so ill post back up in a later tonight or tomorrow .. im so freakin estatic
i feel like im about to get my first piece

hmm, it took you one day to do the work, but she hasn't moved since june?
be sure to pull the spark plugs and squirt some oil into each cylinder and let it sit a few hours before you crank the engine over. also be sure to change the old oil and crank the car without starting for a few seconds until the oil pump primes itself. your engine will thank me later.

took me me that long to get all the parts and the time off of work.. i have been cranking her up once every few weeks since then. most def on the oil change. got it ready to go too.
as usual here is the bad news ... turns out i didnt get a lsd tranny. how do i know ? cause the drivers side lsd axle didnt fit . well it fit but when i put $2 a quart gear oil in the damn thing nearly all of it leaked out of the seal where the axle and tranny meet. so i put in my original axle and whadda ya know it stop leaking and fit fine. i was so pissed
but i dealt with it. i was like hey at least its a working tranny( i kept telling my self too "geez for having lsd it sure looks exactly like my old non-lsd")
okay put everything back together, changed my oil, put what little gear oil i had left over back into the trans. cranked her up but one small problem ... the damn clutch dont work .. its was flat on the floor. now on tuesday when i brought the car in the clutch pedal worked fine. i could put the car into reverse and 4th gear fine. i never cracked the hyd system. so the guys and i decide to bleed it. four hours later of bleeding and pumping and the cltuch is still lifeless. we got a lot of air out of the system. we even tried reverse bleeding. nothing. i must have pumped the pedal at least a thousand times no exagrating.
i dont understand how it worked with the old tranny and not know. they said at worst case it sould be the master cylinder which = time, money and energy of which the first two im completly out of.
my idea is this. the new tranny came with the operating cylinder (slave) still attached to it. it seems to be in good working order. i want to swap it out with mine to see if that helps. if it doesnt then i will be sure that its the master cylinder.
let me know what you guys think

1. if they sent you the wrong tranny, send it back, or get money back because of the non-LSD.
2. sounds to me like you did something wrong with the clutch. if the master/slave cylinder was working properly when you pulled the tranny and you didn't open it up, then it should still be fine.

well im going to try the latter .. i still need a tranny
going back in an hour or so for round two hopefully i can get it fixed today. i got a few ideas.

update .. we re-bulit the entire hyd system. still no pressure. im lost and have no clue what to do short of buying a new system. anybody have any tricks to get the clutch system to work?
Carl... Is there NO pressure what so ever in the clutch system?
I'd START with the slave cylinder first. Buy 1 part at a time and return it if it does fix the problem...
And changing the master cylinder is not that bad.
Good to hear that your almost finished, sorry to hear about the clutch

Sounds like the problems I had last year when I got a rebuilt tranny installed. At first, it appeared as if they sent me a non-LSD tranny since the drivers side axle didn't fit. Doing research later after they sent me a LSD tranny, it looks like the first tranny was LSD as well, but for some reason the axle didn't fit.
When we finally got the tranny in, we had the same problem with the clutch. We had to bleed air out of the system for about 30 mins, and it finally started to work. I wish I had some insight to offer, but since you already got all the air out of the lines I don't know what to tell you. Best of luck.

finally got it done last night .. what a pain.. i had a line made but i wasnt sure of the fitting size so a) it was to long b) it had the wrong size fitting ..
turns out all the air was trapped in the cooler line .. once i realized that i yanked all that out and hooked the master directly to slave. that sloved all my problems ..
so now she is alive again ... exedy is "soft" compared to the act but like factory soft which aint bad at all.
478 miles to go. thanks to kanaka and bags.
