Multi-link beam VS Double-Wishbone Suspension

Can someone clarify the differences? Its been noted here and thru personal experience that the 5.5 gen's (as well as the 5th and 4th gens) stock suspension is horrible with the multilink beam. Even after suspension mods like FSTB, RSB, springs, shocks and struts, I noticed my co-workers 04 accord sedan rides and handles soo much smoother stock than my max does with the mods. The springs do make the ride stiffer, that part I understand, but the double-wishbone/multilink suspension stuff I wasn't too clear about??
