off brand name gas?

is there any real difference between the brand name vs non-brand name gas? the prices usually differ by 15c/gallon but i doubt that the gas is really any different... am I wrong?

thanks

really is cheaper. you're not getting the detergents/fuel injector cleaner with cheapo gas. I stick with Texaco, $.06 off 93 on Wednesdays.

I dont care what brand gas I buy, my car never has never had problems with any specific brand of gas. I always buy Premium, and Ultra (94) once in a while.

The difference is in the detergents. Octane rating is regulated and so is detergents to a point. The off brand gas will have the minimum levels of such detergents which will clean the engine and fuel system. The better the gas, the higher the levels of detergents. I only use Chevron Supreme 93 unless traveling where they do not exist. All three domestic car manufacturers ship chevron gas from Kentucky to Detroit, MI for emissions testing for the past 30 years. There are other really good brands since I don't think chevron is in New York, but I would rather put the good stuff in my car than have problems later or end up spending more with fuel cleaners and additives put in later.

I recently installed a MEVI and when I was able to look down into my lower intake manifold and at the top of my valves I was able to see where my injectors sprayed by where it was clean and then above it there was still carbon build up. It was obvious where techron worked.

There are many opinions on this but I want the most out of my car and I think that quality gas is a good investment.
