CRAZY maxima accident! (pics)

A friend of mine took a turn too fast and slammed a telephone pole. Sorry for the blurry pic but it was really dark and the cops wouldn't let me get very close. Don't worry though no one was hurt (except for a black eye).

how unfortunate. its EXACTLY why insurance rates are going up. know the extents of what the car can handle but dont go to the limit. think of what could have been from this accident. especially from a telephone pole. theres a body shop near my house and in the front is an accord which looked like it t-boned a telepole. man that car was ****ed up. the damage was so severe, the entire mid section of the car was smashed in to the other side. be smart. think before you do. dont end up in the hospital cuz of a stupid thing. lucky all he got was a black eye.

telephone poles are not cheap either. i hit one about one week after i got my 1st car, and i got a bill for $3500 for 5 trucks and workers working on it, and a new pole. it took them a better part of a day to install it, and it was on a saturday, so it was time and a half. my rates went through the roof after that accident. i am glad that i am older and wiser now, and i know how to drive well.

i am glad he is ok, cars amd material items can be replaced, you do not get another chance at life.

yep... my dad works for the electric company here, and if someone crashes into the pole, the driver has to pay to get a new one if it's messed up...

Hey I see you're in Baltimore, I am too... you know whats interesting the past 2 days I have seen 2 seperate accidents that both involved maxes on northern 695 near Towson, on Tuesday there was a 5th gen Max that got F'd up in the front real bad on the west bound side. Last night (Wed) there was a 4 gen that got rear ended on the East bound side almost at the same area though. Those cars were F'd!

Nah man its not a great picture cause it was pitch dark outside and I was like a good 40yds away. I definitely didnt photoshop the pic, the fire was going on for at least an hour. The whole block lost power. Edit: oh if you mean that you enhanced it then could you post it for me?

Just to clarify, it wasnt me that wrecked...just a friend that was on the way to my house. A passenger said that the driver was going like 45mph around a 90 degree turn. I know, very stupid indeed. I have been in shock about the whole incident all day...I cant help but imagine what could have happened without airbags and most importantly seat belts.

you and your friend are pretty lucky...just today I had to bury one of my good friends and teamates (we both played football). He fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree in his Ford Ranger. Very unfortunate...

by the way, his accident was 3 days after his 17th birthday.

FYI: The sparks/fire on the top of the pole are from the fuses on the electrical wires popping and the transformer blowing from the impact. I go to calls like this all the time. There's nothing you can do except sit back and watch the fireworks and wait until the electrical company comes and shut-off the power to the pole. It's really bad to look at the sparks too, they can cause blindness. Also, if you look on the lower portion of the wires, there's one that's hanging down lower than the others. That's the primary electrical line. If that were to fall down near or on the car, you would have an instant Maxima-Kebab.
