Finding previous car owner Info?

Is there any way to look up a car's previous owner with the VIN or title number?

I ran a carfax report on a maxima I am looking at. I would LOVE to chat with the prev. owner before purchase.

anybody have a clue?

The Dmw will not disclose that persons infomation since it would be illegal, maybe if you can find out what dealership sold the car you might have better luck.

call nissan, ask them to run your VIN, ask which dealer sold it new, call that dealer have them pull service records.

From what I was told when I bought my Pathfinder a few months ago, the dealer cant do this either because they either get rid of service records or they cant release them after a certain amount of time because of legal and privacy issues. At least thats what the dealer told me when i requested getting past service history on the car.

Thats correct information the dealer gave you. I sold for 3.5 years and had many people ask about this when purchasing used cars. One good thing when I bought my old car before I quit was, I could find the service history, which had the owner history, myself simply by running the VIN, but they can not give you this information.
