Went to the track Friday night

Bastard!!!!
I too ran a 14.9 on Friday night!!! They couldn't give out timeslips because the timeslip "shack" got toasted from lightening. Alex watched me run and informed me that I ran a 14.9@94mph. My second run was a big surprise. How about a 15.0@96.5mph!!!!!! That trap speed made me very happy. I was spinning way too much off the line again, but I have no idea what 60 foots I was getting. Again, great racing your first time out. BTW, I don't run any quicker with my 15s. I just run on my 15s to save wear off my 17s

Went to Houston Raceway this past Friday.
This was my first time at the track.
It was lots of fun. Got there early and got in 9 runs total. Not too bad.
Anyway, went with my heavy 17" Borbet Type E's. These slowed me down for sure.
My best run of the night was 14.95 at 93.1mph. Second best run was 14.99 at 92.8. I was fairly dissapointed. I was hoping to see high 14.8's but I think the 17's slowed me down. I'll go next time with some 15" on. My runs got slower at the end of the night and i could only manage high 15.0's. It was getting colder but I was running worse.
For reference, UncleMax was there and was running 15.05 in his stock 96 5speed. i don't know how the hell he was doing that. He was on some bald tires.
There was a 3.2CL Type S with comptech headers and exhaust running 15.3's. Several modified Si's running high 15's and a JRSC Si running 14.5's.
Here are the numbers.
R/T-0.570
60'-2.270
1/8-9.677
mph-74.71
1000-12.539
1/4-14.957
mph-93.12

dammit I had to work that nite :( .......
man I didn't know uncle max lived in houston, what color is his car? If I didn't have to work that nite I would have rode down there in my sister's talon turbo AWD. Of course it would be her first time at the strip, just like this saturday was her first time at the illegals. Hell I would have even driven the civic down there. Last time I when I got a 17.5 with a 2.46 60ft on my first and only pass. I'm sure I can sneak out a 17.3 or 17.4 from a bone stock 1.5L.

Re: dammit I had to work that nite :( .......
Dave: Good job! 96 mph is damn fast! Too bad the shack got hit by lightening...hahaha!!! I think drag radials would help you a lot. You really must be running strong. For some reason I'm just not making that much power. With a 2.2x 60' and only 93mph in the traps....i wish it could be faster. I was not shifting at readline though. Was shifting at about 6000rpm....that may have had an affect on it. When do you shift? Do you shift into 4th?
Nismo: Yeah, i knew you were working or i would have invited you. i didn't even make it out to westheimer on saturday. it would be fun to run your mom's car. hehe!
uncle max drives a beige looking 96. he's usually not out on westheimer, not until he gets his 75 shot put in...

Woo hoo!!!!!
Boy I was happy this Friday. Like Francis said 15.0 bone stock, no intake, no exhaust. My trap speed at that ET were I believe around 92. I didn't look at the other time slips to ssee if I did better. But yea, you have to shift at red line, or at least I did. Francis and I swap'd cars to see if we could do better in each others cars and we both failed. Woo Hoo!!!!

Yep, shift at 6500 rpms...
You damn people in Houston **** me off
I don't know what it is with their track, but their freaking fast. It doesn't make sense. Years ago I was down there for a big F-Body meet (I had my modded 94 Z28) and I ran a 13.4@104mph with a 2.0 60 foot. I never came close to that when I got back to racing in KC. My quickest time in KC was only a 13.7@101mph!!! HRP hooks like mad too. Maybe that was the difference. At the Grand Prix Meet last week at KCIR, the GTP guys were running .3-.4 slower at KCIR vs the southern tracks (Houston, Nashville, Dallas).
Francis-
You need to shift at 6500 rpms on the 1-2 and atleast 6300 on the 2-3. Don't shift out 3rd even though you'll be going thru the traps at 6500 rpms in 3rd. My car is a tad quicker not grabbing 4th. 2.2 60' are awesome for a Maxima. I still can't get any better than a 2.4 60' no matter what I do.
I got my RT cat installed so I'll have to track test it some. I'm not going to the track again until it is 45 degrees and nil humidity. I want the best ets possible.

imagine. what those times would be like with that UPRD ecu..
Nabil ran 14.8s on stock rims and just an intake and ypipe.
imagine what this new ecu would do, esp when most of the power was gained on the mid->higher rpm ranges, which is ideal for 1/4 mile!
i'm thinking 14.5s or lower.. hmm..
maybe we'll do a test. heh.
Dave! you should get one.. perfect for you. 96 SE...

well, my rims come in next Fri. so i'll be broke for the rest of this month. But the Ecu is next or maybe my springs. anyways the ECU is the first mod I'm gonna do before we loose the chance to do it. I'll for sure be going to the track when that's in. But im gonna ask for the NOS ecu I hope it has the same results as the normal ecu that has been tested.
