do these thing actually work. i kinda want to do them to dress up the engine bay a little, but do they actually do anything?

They work. There is a Group Deal going on right now from Blehmco on hyperground kits for our cars. $40-50 (depends on model year) shipped per kit is the best price I've seen ever, so grab a set before the deal expires.
