My max with an intake and catback vs my frinds 93 mustang 5.0. He has headers, H-pipe, catback and intake. he says he has beaten Z28s, the whole line of of BMW M's, a carrera, the new mustangs and the list goes on. im not sure whether all his kills are true or how he races. do these kills sound believable. He says, he'll give me a head start if i want and also says that he is going to get a superchip sometime soon and that will put him in the mid/low 13's. i would expect him to beat me but if he gives me a head start and we do a long race, his car is limited to 115mph, hopefully mine isnt and i will pull away then what do you think?

well,

stock 5.0...no problem, but with his mods he's gonna be pretty damn quick. I've beaten a 5.0 with exhaust, but i've seen some that can really fly...and I'm guessing he's one of those with the headers redone. if he's gonna give a head start though....you've got a chance. and your car should go past 115 easy.

Yeah, Ill agree, He'll probably take you.

But you all must remember he's only starting off with 215hp, instead of 225hp that all the other 5.0s have.

IIRC-The '93 Cobra w/5.0 had 235hp or 225hp so Ford wanted to lower the HP on the other 'Stangs so people would shell out the extra cash for the Cobra.

I dunno, it's a toss up...you'll definitely kick his butt up top, but down low, I'm guessing he'll probably take you. The thing is the 5.0s come stock with "shorty" brand headers, which are pretty nice, so I doubt he really gained that much power from any other headers. Now if he had an MSD ignition, and 70psi injectors...then I would be worried, but from MY experience with mustang guys (DON'T FLAME ME FOR THIS) they talk A LOT of trash, and can rarely produce. Go for it, you've got nothing to lose....execept maybe the race

I agree, the M5 story is a nice piece of fiction. Especially if the is talking the new M5.

Whole line of M's? Carrera? Z28? and he isn't running close to mid 13's yet? I'm gonna have to assume that the these cars that he is beating are older models, eps the carrera. They run low-mid 13's stock. Z28's run mid-high 13's, same with some of the M's (M roadster and coupe). Not to mention the M5!
I think that he will you take you. With a headstart though, he is asking for trouble. I don't think the mods listed would bring him down to anywhere lower than low 14's. That's from what I've seen. Race him on the highway. All the mustangs I've raced on the highway haven't had a chance. Plus my sister's husband has a 98 stang that has absolutely no top end, and that is all from the ****ty gearing.
Just my opinion. Good luck!

My *** he has beat the whole line of M's. No way he beat an M5 with a rustang, just ain't happening. M3 maybe, but is he an auto or stick, if he is an auto he is really full of ****. I would race him **** I bet I could beat him to sixty easy after I put my newly ordered y-pipe on. I smoke rustangs all day long, I would be willing to bet that he can't beat the new 2000 GT rustangs, and I beat an auto new rustang. Race him who gives a **** if you lose to a car that will be

The stories are questionable. The 93 mustangs (even stock) were reasonably quick.

However, unless you're on a track or the Autobahn, if you are planning on going 115 (or anywhere near that), you're just plain dumb. I'm sure you've heard the whole song and dance about why street racing is soooo stupid. I just hope you'll take it to heart before you or someone else gets hurt or killed.

Don't get me wrong here, I like going fast as much as anybody on this board. I just prefer to be safe and keep racing to the track.

i thought he overexaggerated his stories, unless he's spraying and not telling me. i plan on racing him tomorrow night, and just to let you know, i rarely go over 100mph, i was just bein sarcastic about one way i would beat hi hands down

I used to be into mustangs.... The 86-91? mustangs are rated at 225 HP but Ford got into trouble because that power rating was very liberal. So 92-95 5.0's are rated at 215 with everything the same. The one thing that all of them do have is torque to the tune of ~300'lbs. I think. The quickest mustangs stock are the 86-88 LX 5.0 5sp. notchbacks that didn't have PS or AC. They have speed density air sensors(as opposed to mass air sensors in most cars) that would cause them to run a little lean and they would get a bit more power. These cars will do a high 13; but you can get a auto GT cnvt. that wouldn't get a low 15(more like mid 15's)
