You mean when you stall? as in, let off the clutch too fast and the engine dies? you are asking for a stall for christmas? Im not following you here....

Hey, you mean High Stall Torque Converter..

Dont see why its bad, all your engine is doing is revving higher to launch..

Dont know much about it. I've never heard of reported problems because of a HS torque converter.

Unless you plan on some serious drag racing, a high stall may not be a good idea. If you do get one, be sure you get one that will not effect daily drivability much because some high stalls make daily driving a pain.

Also, I'm sure that you'd see a noticable decrease in gas economy. By the way, this is not the way to ask for help...

i was lost before too.. I think the tranny would be more of a concern than the engine. the VQ can take the abuse of a slight higher rev from a >200 hp car when people are constantly racing with FI on them. but the tranny is what i would be more concerned about if anything.

What do you mean this isnt the way to ask for help? i thought this forum was to help out the guys that didnt know as much.

Thanks guys for sharing your input, but I need some people that have autos that know about stalled torque converters. I was wanting around a 3,000 RPM stall. My dad thinks its something totally different if someone knows exactly what they are then please share. I'm pretty sure that it shouldn't have anything that will harm the enigne, I just was needing someone else to back me up. Thanks.

Cory

what people are nicely trying to say is research before you post. i to read the topic and thought you wanted to know if stalling your car was going to hurt the engine. What your looking for is a high stall torque converter. had you put that in the topic you would get better help. please dont take offense to this, just trying to help you from getting flamed in the future.

sorry....i have no answer for you question

I believe a 3000 rpm TC would be wayyyy too high for what you're probably looking for. I only know of one person with a high stall TC, and it's Aaron with a 3rd gen. I'm not positive where his is set at, but I doubt it's above 2500 rpm. Unless you're done pretty much every other bolt on mod to your car, there is little reason to get a high stall TC now. Exactly why do you want this?

Dude honestly you don't want one unless your gonna be taking that thing to the track . I have a auto and i was looking into one, but being as my car is a daily driver i decided not to get it. If you want something that will help make the auto a little quicker take a look at the valve body modification done by maximum tunning. I've got it and i highly recomend it.

I dont think it will mess with anything, the only thing it does is give you faster, and harder shifts, probably lets you put more power to the floor, and the higher stall. It will make for a sporty ride type feel. If your going to do it, I STRONGLY suggest you get a Tranny Cooler, and While your in there already, get a Stage II Vb mod. It will be good with that combo

Higher stall TC's aren't effective as putting power down to the ground because of the increase slip. This in turn effects drivability in normal day-to-day city driving as you'll feel the transmission 'slip' although it really isn't; the engine speed won't match road speed until you're past the stall point.

It does allow you to get into the powerband quicker at WOT, although sometimes at the consequence of excess wheelspin.

I dont know but it can't be good on the mounts or even the starter.

A high stall t.c. will not make your shifts faster like somebody claimed. It will cause your transmission to not put the power to the wheels until a higer rpm (the stall speed). Now if you had a 3k stall, even on a bone stock maxima, daily driving would be a joke. It would be similar to launching a manual at 3k every time.

so.... No, a high stall t.c. would not hurt your engine, but a 3k stall would probably decrease the life of the components in your drivetrain and be a pain to drive. what would probably be cheaper and more useful would be a re-tuned valve body to speed up and firm up your shifts.

by the way, the fourth result on a google search would have explained what it did and what it was to you.

Why would you want it a 3K anyway? At that point peak TQ is already there meaning wheelspin would be uncontrolable. As your dad for a 5Spd for X-mas.
