You can split up the swap over two weekends that way. Do the pedal work one weekend, then drive as an auto with 3 pedals and finish up the next weekend.

That's how I *might* do it

I would agree with TE. I have not yet messed with the inside at all. I'm certainly not looking foward to it. The other stuff has been extremely easy actually. But how hard is it to pull stuff out that you don't really care about? It was harder to install my UDP than it was to pull the tranny and engine. On the UDP rust prohibited my PS tensioner from working properly.

I had to destroy the rubber pedal cover on the clutch to get it off to grind away some rust. I'll drive like that for a while and see if I like. If not I'm going to fab up some aluminum plates similar to the dead pedal I made. Its a bit more difficult though cause the pedals or contoured. Anyone else drive with no cover(Rubber or otherwise)?

im very surprised with all the weight you guys are loosing. Seems like a lot of work here and there to rid all the unessesary weight. Keep it up.

Damn Krismax we need to talk, I know you have many other secrets nonlighted sun visors nice I think you said your trying to get around 2500 to 2600 with all seats in oh and thats with no CF stuff wow this is my goal as well. Any updates on what else you took out or replaced??

Does anyone else notice when you have like 2 people or more in you car you can notice the added weight is more noticeable then before the weight reduction. When I'm by myself the car feels so light compared to my friends stock 4thgen.

well my goal by 06 is 2450lbs with carbon fiber parts and pass seat out for the track.

I just found out recently maximas came with non lighted visors so i swaped with rowan. Hopefully i can get ahold of the two aluminum bumpers should take off 20-30lbs right there. I still have two dust shields to take off and i only took the muffler heat shield off so far . The rest have to come off soon.

I have my 97 tails now so i can put my carbon F trunk on soon and take my spoiler off. Im thinking with CF trunk and spoiler off it will be a 35-40lb loss with that on and pass seat out my car is close to high 2590lb range . and 1/4 tank of gas.

But my goal is 2500's with all seats and full interior. but cf hood,Alum bumpers and coilovers with little weight savings i keep finding should get me in the high 2400's with pass seat out and 1/4 gas.

You two are insane. I really need a ride in the post weight watcher max in the spring Krismax!

i came across some interesting information, i have been in the process of shipping my maxima to NZ, for some reason today i was looking at the paper work and saw where the car was weighed in full trim. here is the chariot weight stats:

1997 Nissan Maxima SE ( all options, leather, sunroof)
>>>3009 lbs

in keeping records of weights on all items, in race trim i was racing the car at:
>>>> 2834 lbs

i weighed 225 lbs last year which would mean the car was:
>>>> 3059 lbs

so i ran lots of 14.2's with a best of 14.1 3 times last year at 3059 lbs which is including me in the car. any thoughts ? i know a dyno is the best way, i was wondering if you could come close to a hp figure if you have a 1/4 mile time and the weight of your car.

also at 2834 lbs how is this stacking up with the lighest maximas, im going to have to read this whole thread to catch up.

2800 is good. Just below that is my goal. As for the estimated HP, that is pretty much worthless. Why does it matter? You ran a 14.2 with whatever power you had.

http://robrobinette.com/et.htm

There are too many variables, but anyway, have fun with this calculator. But it won't be able to accurately estimate your HP within 30hp. Gearing, traction, weather, etc. Too many variables.

So far Krismax is trying to aim for 2450lbs with CF parts and 2500 with full interior that's amazing and I'm right behind him with full interior est. at 2689lbs race trim with all seats in. Now I've taken lots more out since
I last checked but unfortunatly I didn't weigh any of the thngs taken out during the swap but anyday now when I find some time I will have it weighed.

Oh and Ceasar I think you should put your money towards the full 3.5 swap on 3.0 ECU with VI

Sounds about right. Also, forget doing a motor swap! "You need to keep on keepin on... life's a garden, dig it!" - Joe Dirte

I am planning on making my car as fast as I can get it NA... within reason! I am not going to do anything extreme or too expensive, when I can dump a couple grand on my car and have it WELL in the 12s in the 1/4 mile on only 6psi of properly tuned boost. I suggest you do the same. Go as fast as you can NA, then screw it all and go nitrous or turbo.. or both!

Finally I got this damn car weighed

Finally I got this damn car weighed

2830lbs with a little less than 1/4 tank.

I’m a little disappointed, I was aiming for mid 2700lbs at least. Each 18" rim weighs 48.2lbs damn heavy rims .

I know my stock sawblades weigh 23lbs each so if I had them on then I would be close @ 2729.2lbs
Don't forget that this is done with Full interior.

I recently removed the (Evap and Blower 10.2lbs) and a few other unnecessary lines and hoses.

I'm still working with the fuel tank.

I'm going to go to another weigh station and see if there's a difference.

is that curb weight. I know our curb weight is 3010

Curb weight: The weight of a fueled automobile with standard equipment but without cargo or passengers.

So since I have leather and a sunroof does that mean I'm over 3010lbs with a full tank?

2830lbs seems off to me that means I only took out 180lbs I calculated atleast 240lbs only if I had weighed the car before I did all this work so who knows how mmuch it was when it was stock.

I know for a fact that 256lbs was taken out I'm going to try to weigh as much of the things I have taken out that are still here and recalculate.
