I see a small crack....

....in my front windshield. It's about 3/4 of an inch long. I'm afraid when the weather gets colder, it'll spread.
Can I do anything about it besides replacing the whole glass?

take some crazy glue, the original one and put some at both ends of the crack inside and out, and it will stop that crack dead in its track.

I don't think that will help. You need to drill a very small hole at the end of the cracks to stop the propagation of the crack. then seal the crack with some type of silicone to prevent it from filling up with dirt.

If the crack length is only abou 3/4", I believe most windsheild chip repair places will be able to fix it.

I need a whole new one

jeff serious it works until he can get it changed or repaired professionally. it will keep it from spreading.

I say just replace the hole think a crank is not something to mess with especially with this weather we are having in the tri-state area.

IMHO it won't. But I'm not an expert windshield repair person either. And if he puts a bunch of glue in the crack, how is he going to get it repaired?

I recommend he just get it done right the 1st time. It's not much of a cost (if any if he's insured). And it might take 10 min for the guy to do it. The important thing is he should get it fixed asap before the crack gets too long to be able to get repaired.

IMHO, the only way to prevent a crack from propagating is to stop it. The only way to do that right is to drill a small hole at the end of the crack.

Don't be ghetto, just replace the windshield. You are looking at ~$250 or so....
