best tool to cut sheet metal

What does everyone recomend to cut sheet metal with? I'm taking weight reduction a step further and going to cut out uneeded sheet metal everywhere i can. I was going to use this tool http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=36568
but is there something better to use.I want a nice clean cut or else i would use my air body saw. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...itemnumber=113

The first one works better but this isnt something I consider smart on a unibody car. Have you stripped the car of all sound deadening material already?

Might just want to pick up a lighter car

The first one, otherwise called a Nibbler is what we use at the Body Shop for just about all our sheet metal applications.

The car is already stripped. I will not be cutting anything that is supporting the body. But there is no need for the doors to have so much metal among other places.

Why mod when you can pick up another car?

Electric or air powered rotary tool with cut-off disk would work well too, but it's harder to get a perfect line

Um, aren't those side impact beams in the doors? That's not what you're cutting are you? If you're just cutting the random sheet metal away, I doubt you'll lose much weight.

By stripped, what do you mean? Carpet gone, everything? And this may be a really obvious question, but I have to ask. WHY? It's not a race car, not like you're running 10's or anything. Saving the 20 lbs or so might get you what, another .02 in the 1/4 mile? You have a 15 second car, after cutting away metal and messing up random parts of your car, you'll still have a 15 second car. Maybe 14.9 at best.

If you really want to do it though, go with a cutting wheel. It might be easier to get into some of the tighter places than a nibbler or saw.

Thanks for all the ideas.I would love to own a plasma cutter. I will only be cutting unneeded sheet metal.Nothing thats going to harm me incase of an accident. My car has been totaly stripped before i weighed in at 2750 for a fully loaded auto se.I have put a few things back in like radio, speakers, exhaust, seats but i am still with no carpet.Last time i weighed i was at 2910 with a normal looking car. If there is only 20 pounds of uneeded metal then thats 20 pounds.I would rather have a lighter car that looks stock than a car with no interior weighing the same.Sure i may gain a tenth in the 1/4 but thats cash i didn't have to spend to do it.
