90 Max SE 5spd sold with 318K miles
91 SE-R 5spd 118K miles sold last year
92 TTZ 5spd- JWT Sport 650 turbos etc- bought to fix, sold at profit.
93 G20 5spd- Turbocharged- 500WHP summer vehicle.
93 SE-R 5spd 300K miles, many turbo engines etc -favorite car
95 Sentra GLE automatic- mom totalled it.
98 Max GXE auto- brother drives it
00 Altima GXE auto- 35K just ticked on it today
01 Maxima GXE 5spd- my current car

I won't buy another Maxima, I got a sweet deal on a 04 M45 with Navi for 33K dollars new... very tempting deal but I can't justiffy paying the car for another 5 years.
My current daily driver is a 91 Legend 4 door that I beat the crap out of, got it for 600 bux for my GF, mint shape, head gaskets went and I bought it off a customer and fixed it- 122k miles. My next car... probably another G20 or a brand new B13 Tsuru from Mexico that I can convert to a SE-R.

How much for you to build me a G20 SE-R? Would you do it?

G20s already come with SR20DEs here, you can slap togheter a very responsive T28 turbo kit for around 2500 bux and enjoy reliable 280WHP and high 12 sec time slips and still pass emissions. P10 G20- 91-96 has the best suspension ever put in a Nissan 4 door sedan, with a set of KYB AGX and crappy Tein S-techs my G20 handles light years ahead of my Maxima with JIC Magic- which are blown. Ofcourse if 280WHP aint enough you can go to 400+WHP with stock US engine internals. But this is the wrong thread to be talking bout this anyways

Without doing much research, the German car companies are very diversified, not to mention they have had large margins over many years. Just think what you're going to get with the say BMW 330i that's coming out in 3 weeks, compared with what you got in 1995. Not just dumb-a** features like moonroofs that are turned sideways and auto-dimming mirrors with wires hanging out like you find on Nissans. I'm talking about performance improvements and design (like chassis stiffness). Then factor in no price increase while our US dollar is worth far less. But my hunch is since BMW sells cars in every country in the world, they can take a hit in the US market and offer no price increase even though our dollar is worth 30% less to them than it was only 5 years ago.

Then you look at the Japanese cars, which are mostly made in USA. Prices have steadily gone up. Just use common sense. An Indiana made Subaru Outback starts in the mid 24's. Hello, mid 24's for a base model. Add 3k to find the avg. model.

Therefore, gap closes. Again, you have to have the ante to play, and many 18 year olds will not have what it takes to obtain a European car no matter how much the gap closes. There isn't any German car I know of that you can buy for 4,500, like you can a 4th gen Maxima. A 6 year-old 3 series still retails for about 16-17.

my first car was a 5spd 97 max, it got stolen after 2 months

then i bought a 5spd 96 and kept that for a while

sold it and got a auto 99 528i

sold that and bought a 5spd 99 max

(i also have a 1990 accord beater )

If i was in the market for a new car, i would probubly buy a 4dr G35 or a 6th gen.

For the post above me, BMW sales are not up to expectaions, and the uglyness of the new 3-series will drop them even lower.....

Bmw's dont have good resale value, the only ones that do are the M's because of their perfromance, but other makes are offing similar performance for much less..

I'm on my third Maxima, 86 SE, 97 SE and finally my "New" 02 SE. The original clutch went out on my 86 at like 265K, probably won't get that out of the new one... But I still wouldn't have anything else!

Funny thing- Before my 99 Max I had leased a 2002 Accord Coupe. When I gave it back, it had about 35K on it. The interior didnt look so great. The leather side bolsters on my seat were starting to rip at the seams!!!! I couldnt believe it. Also, the tranny was going! My 99 Max interior is very well built and the materials that make up the dash except for the plastic bezels around the radio/AC etc. is pretty decent. My mother recently bought a 2004 odessy. I take it on long trips...THIS WHOLE CAR PLASTIC!!! Tap on the dash and there is not 1 area that is not just plain old plastic. At least my 4th gen is wrapped in vynal padding. The honda is textured plastic made to look like its wrapped. VER VERY lame. (but the thing hauls *** for a minivan!) It is true- quality of ALL japanaese cars is slipping IMHO. My next car will be a lexus, b/c it seems that they are the only ones that seem to be imune to this notion. Maxine has her quirks, but I still love her and will run her into the ground. SHe has 55k so she wil be around for a while. I'm in no position currently for a new vehicle, but in the mean time- I am happy to be stuck" with her

This is my first Nissan, and I plan to buy more. I think they are fantastic cars. I don't think the quality is going down as much as the complexity is going up. You can't compare a 3rd gen to the new 6th gen. The problem with all automakers is all the computers. So easy for faults to show up. I am laid off from the airlines in maintenance, and the new Airbus and 777 are far more superior than the older jets, but always have some type of fault from the computer. Guess that is just the way it is going...the electronics is getting too complicated. Just look at the Germans.

I want the G35C, wouldn't mind getting into an Altima SE-R 6-speed, although I only have 60K and plan on adding at least that much more. If I needed an SUV, the FX seems great, or new Pathfinder. You think Nissan service is bad, try a Honda or VW, and domestics are worse...it's unfortunate. I always had great service at Fergus Nissan in Skokie, IL though.

My nissan History:

1993 Maxima SE (180k miles) still going strong
2002 Spec V - Last week .Just traded it in for the 2k2 Max (Tranny was possesed)
2002 Maxima GXE - Love the car, much better ride and quality than the mexican built sentra.

I will probably never buy another nissan again with the exception of the G35. The reason I opted for a 5.5gen is because it was the last max to be built in Japan. At least the G35 is still built there. Prior to my nissan experience I have owned many Hondas and a couple of toyotas have always been satisfied with the reliability of the import brands but it seems that quality has gone down across the board. Some of the best Hondas and nissans I have seen come from the 89-93 era, you still see them on the road going strong.

With prices of european vehicles dropping, I can definately see myself in a jaguar in a few years... www.texascarsdirect.com has some great deals... For example, last week, a 2001 Jaguar XJR went for 19,000. Those cars are just sick.

I fell in love with Nissan after I drove my friend's 89 Maxima SE. I bought my own 2001 auto GXE, and had that for 2 years and then crashed it. I went through a 4-cylinder stick 2004 Honda Accord, then a 6-cyl Auto 2003 Accord. They were nice cars, but I think I always wanted a Nissan again just because they were fun to drive. So I sold that and bought my loaded 2k2 SE. Older than what I had yes, but so much more fun to drive!

correct me if im wrong, but ford makes jaguar, thus the resale is garbage on those cars. makes them a HUGE bang for teh buck.

Some components are made by ford - the transmission being one of the main ones - and yeah the resale has gone to **** on these cars. You can buy a 2000 model for 7-8k now, vs a 95 model for the same freaking price. Definately a great bang for the buck.

My first truck was a 90 D21 (3 years). Then I traded it for a 02 Frontier XE (4 years still counting). I then bought a 90 Maxima after I got married (3 years and still counting). I then strayed from the path when I bought the 03 Mazda Protege 5.

I have learned the error of my ways (really it was just too small for what I needed) And I'm now trying to sell it.

The next vehicle I will get will be either a Nissan Titan, or the new Dodge Crew Cab with a cummins. That descision will easily be made if Nissan ever puts a diesel in the Titan.
