Maxima Power Door locks

Is there a way to program 2003 Maxima door locks to lock automatically after engine is started. I just acquired a 2003 Maxima SE and the owner's manual doesn't mention this. This is my first Nissan. Every other car I have owned for the past 15 years has either locked the doors when the ingnition was turned on or when you shifted from park. I love the Maxima, I replaced a Buick Park Avenue Ultra with it. It has all the options the Buick had except for the auto locking doors. What gives? One would think that with all the technology incorporated in the Maxima, this would be a no brainer.

Probably not. At least as far as I know. But what you COULD do, is get some generic, no-name keyless entry, hook the wiring up and just NOT use the remotes. Most aftermarket keyless entry/alarm systems come pre-programmed so that once you start the engine, the doors look.

I've had a customer a few years back that wanted something similar, and I did what I outlined above for them. They never have to use the remotes (as a matter of fact, I just programmed the remotes out of the system) and the doors lock when they start the car, and unlock once they turn the ignition off.

Just a thought...
