Another Maxima down

Well, on the way home from school today, I got into an accident. I was turning left at an intersection and hit a van broadside. I was moving just a few miles per hour. The accident was my fault, I got a failure to yeild ticket. This is after my car sat in my garage for two months waiting on a new spring. Today was the first time I had driven my car too, I just got the new spring in last night at 10:00. I am just glad that I didn't hit the guy in my dad's blue Maxima. If that had been the case I'd be heading for Mexico right now. Does it look totaled? Luckily I have full coverage.

This is the side of the van I hit, hardly any damage

Glad your ok, and that sad to hear you just take her out for the first time after 2 months.

Its definally not totalled, you'll need new hood, grill, headlight, corner light, clear corner, fog light, front bumper, fender, hopefully radiator support bar didnt get bent, maybe a bumper re-inforcer would need replacing. Since you have full coverage you wont have to pay all that out of pocket. Not sure if your thinking about it this could be the best opportunity for a 97 Front end conversion if you were interested. . . just a suggestion.

Glad you Ok. glad it wasnt you Dads car too.

I spun out last year and the total with all the parts and painting my car was alittle over $2000. That time I was just driving stupid with lots of slush and somehow my insurance didn't go up. No one was ever reported as the driver, just that the car was in an accident. It seems like it will cost alot more to fix this time.

If it isn't totaled, I want to do the 97 conversion. But knowing my luck, it will be totaled. If it is I want to see if I can pick up a supercharged max. For some wierd reason though, I'm not really upset at all about this. It isn't bugging me at all, even thought I know I should be upset. I'm just used to stuff like this happening to me. The phrase "What can go wrong, will go wrong" is the story of my life.

Ok, this is my buddy's CL-Type S that had over $14k in damages and was not totalled. The door got pushed back into the rear 1/4 and the firewall was partially rebuilt. Again, your car is not going to be totalled.

I dont think they'd do the conversion for you but if you get a quote from a shop on how much it would cost and they cut you a check you can get the 97 bumper instead etc.

or if they need part number or supply them with the proper part number to replace with. On the plus side of this accident (for 95/96ers) this would be the best time to 97+ conversion, for the rest of us we have to come out of pocket and do to, and hope we can sell off most of the parts to cut the cost.

It didn't look too bad. I had a similar accident a couple of months ago. It cost me around $500 to have all the parts replace. The guy went to the junkyard to get the parts. Feels like I was being rip off, but I need to car for work. At the end I just settle a working Max. Once the weather is warmer, I'll have it repainted.

it's not that bad or severe. No it's not totalled, the only time Insurance will determine when a car is totalled is when the damage is somewhere as 70% or the repair cost exceeds the market value of the car. But your case, i think the cost to repair would be about $3000

I'm bringing the car in today to get an estimate, so I'll see how it goes.

On the same day I got in the accident, My parents go a letter in the mail saying that if my car ist titled in my name, but insured under their name, then insurance can be denied in the event of an accident. That is exactly how mine is too, but our insurance agent said I should be fine and it will still be covered.

My ticket is for $130 and I just got an estimate and the shop said $3516.24 to fix my car. ouch. It's hard to believe hitting someone at like 5-10mph could cause that much damage.

One thing, I didn't see before is that the support for the top of the radiator is bent too.

Cars these days are designed to crumple upon impact so everything will go. It's like a soda can. And you will need to bend back or replace the radiator support.
