Buying a maxima...

Any suggestions as to any problems to look for? I am looking for a SE 1990-1992 with a 5 speed. Any trouble spots I should pay attention to?
I have a couple of questions.
I heard that the SE has the changeable suspension like the 300zx? Is that true? Where you can flip a switch or push a button and have the suspension loosen or tighten.
Does the CD changer come on all the SE's?
Is there a place where I can find safety ratings?
Anything else I should know?
It sounds like a very cool car.
Thanks,
Brandon

Welcome to Maxima.org!
First of all you might want to check out the normal sites for car ratings.
www.edmunds.com
www.autotrader.com
and any others you like.
As far as I know, no Maxima of those years came with a CD changer, but by now you might be able to find one someone has installed.
Known problems you should look out for:
Broken exhaust studs
bad window regulators
BOSE radio problems
VTC falure on the 92 SE
The great stuff:
V6 + Manual tranny in a sedan
IRS (ind. rear suspension)
3rd gen. (1989-94) is the best looking Max.
Well maintained will last you to 300k miles +
