My brother's Quest got totalled in December and he was cleaning his stuff over the week-end. He had the extra security chip (triangular chip under the steering column) and was throwing it away. I tried it (after comparing the numbers etched out on the circuit board) and it worked. Now! the important question is his was a 98 quest and mine is a 99 Maxima SE and I thought that those chips were unique. I guess anybody carrying a chip like that can start my car so it is not much of a security feature is it?? Ofcourse since mine is a 99 it also has the transponder black key so they might not be able to start my car but my other brother has a 97 SE which does not have that special key and he relies on that chip alone. I will test the chip when I go to his place over the long week-end in the end of this month!!
But this is not good!!
