I went to look at a 03 Max 6spd today and i'm in love with it. Loaded Titanium edition without Navi. Mileage was high, but price was right. It drove pretty perfect but there were some slight imperfections body wise. This is where I need your help!

There was a dent on the roof!?! He said it was from a portable basketball hoop that fell on it during a wind storm. There as also a pretty bad scratch on the passenger side of the bumper/wheel well. My question is how much does this damage look to cost? I'm especially curious of the price to fix the roof. I've never heard of anyone going to get a roof fixed so I'm kinda oblivious to the pricing for this. Please provide some valuable insight.

da bumper is around 120CDN-250CDN depends on wt kinda quality u wanna get....

 

I have a 2k2 that needed a front bumper paint job....and that cost around $250......they painted my front lip too....not just my bumper.....but yeah those scratches on the bumper don't look bad at all is you ask me.....it will run you in the ballpark figure of $200-300 to paint a front bumper of a maxima...most shops will suggest to paint the whole bumper instead of just fixing the scratches individually...

the dent on the roof doesn't look so bad either....honestly little things like this shouldn't bother you too much...becuz you know that eventually your car's going to get scratched up/dented up from daily driving....whether its rocks, potholes, or inconsidered people banging their doors into your car in the parking lot....

if the price is right...i say go for the 2k3 TE....how much are they asking anyway? wuts the mileage?

 

I recently had bumper work done....Id estimate around $250-350. Depending on the quality of the repair shop. And the roof isnt that bad. Id check with a dent puller. When I got my car 7 months ago from the dealership, it had a similar dent on the roof between the door and the sunroof where I think someone slammed their fist down. However, the dent did not extend to any sharp edges in the body, so the fix was simply fixed by a dent puller. If you like the car and the price is right, id say try and talk the seller into knocking off about $1000 off the price. Atleast start at $1000 and take no less than $600 for repairs. Best of luck.

 

Get the roof looked at by a paintless dent removal shop if the paint isn't scratched/broken.

How many miles do you mean by high miles? I would never buy a high miler, particularly a 2003.

The roof does have a scratch on it so it isn't as easy to fix. I'll definitely need some paint on there.

The bumper doesn' seem that bad for $250-350. If i can get both done for under $800 then it would be pretty good.

Also wondering about Check Engine Lights. (CEL)

Does the 03's have only one Check Engine Light? When I drove it, I saw there was a light that said something like "Maintenance Required Soon" (I don't remember exactly what it said) He said it just came on. My questions are: is there only one maintenance light for the 03's? I'm thinking it might just be a reminder light that the scheduled service interval is approaching. Can someone confirm if the light on the 03's come on when its time for service and also whether there is another light that warns to "Check Engine" for problems?

BTW - the car just hit 69K mi when I drove it. Asking around 12k.

 

you are talking about the SES light? (service engine soon).....2k2-2k3's have a common problem with throwing codes all the time....who knows...it could be a "ghost" code...or something might be really wrong with the car...

wow 12k for a loaded TE 6spd??? thats pretty damn good if u ask me....even though it has 70k miles on it....try getting it for lower and see if the owner gives in

 

Paintless dent repair should take care of the roof for about $100-200 or so.

Is this a dealer or private sale? If dealer, have them fix both things for you before buying the car. The price sounds fair IMO.

salvage title, should be selling for bout 7k tops, salvage or rebuilt title should have a 30-50% value decrease from the retail price AFTER repair

 

work shouldnt be more than 800 but i be goin with a quality place since its a fairly new car

the roof dent can be fixed under 100 bucks for sure ... the local RSX guys are having a "dent day" around here .. 5-7 dings/dents, just like those, can be done for 100 bucks.
