yes it was fun.....but not the ride home. I had the van screeching around a turn after the tobin bridge. I thought I was going to die! The motor rolled around a bit, but my pizza stayed on top of my tool box LOL.
But thanks to you 2 for all the sweet parts!
Zack tell your sis the cream was sweet.
Jeff.......use more lotion next time, so it wont burn as much.

Wish i took my pics. i could have but lazy and too excited about everything else. we weren't sure how to get the motor out and took some "work". Jeff did an awesome job installing my door inserts and sutter had my VLSD off in 30 mins. i am surprised how easy it was to get it apart. if we had a hoist it would have been easier.
really great experience and i can tear down a maxima now(with help)
ha been there done that... i had my car this high (pic) since my original plan was to drop the motor and roll it out the front of the car too but with the hoist i had, found out then that it wouldnt go low enough :fock:

why did you remove the motor anyway..?

i sould stand in its place and close the hood a little bit just enough so i could jump out and scare people walking by!
but to answer your question... how many other chances will you get to stand where your engine is?

It would have been cool if we had a hoist but the motor "dropping" technique worked also. I think i learned alot from this little excercise. my next undertaking wil be installing the VLSD tranny into my car with a 5th gen clutch. I am also going to look into getting some ES motor mounts pressed into the old I30 motor mounts.

yeah that is really high. when i did it, i raised the car high enough so that the motor would slide out under the car and it wasnt that high.
You guys are crazy. You'd risk the car sliding backward into the house or falling off the stands before you'd spend $200 on a cherry picker that you would use again in the future. Don't you guys have friends with cherry pickers? Aren't there places to rent them?

should have called me man... I would have come over...
