Just a Hello from a new org member!!
Hello everyone,
This is going to be a fairly long post so bear with me. First of all, I would like to say that this forum is AWESOME!! I've actually been "lurking" for a while, but just recently registered. There is SO much great information here, and I just want to thank everyone who makes this site possible.
Now a little background on myself and my car. I've always been a Maxima fan and thus always wanted to purchase a 4th generation. I'm a college student (graduating in May) with a 2 year old son and a fiancee'. My fiancee' only goes to school and doesn't work. For those of you currently in college or at least remember it, you know that "extra" money is extremely hard to come by. Well, my fiancee was driving a 96 dodge caravan (ugly but served our purposes for the time being). Last summer, a car pulled out in front of her and she "totaled" the mini-van. Actually, it didn't look that bad and no one was hurt, but the damages exceeded the worth of the car. The insurance company cut us a check for "book-value" for $5000. I thought it was a pretty good deal since I could NEVER sell a ten year old mini-van with 150,000 miles for even close to that.
That brings me to the Max. Like I said, I have always wanted one, but couldn't really afford it. Now I had a check for $5000 and I needed to get transportation for my fiancee'. I lucked out and found a 95 GLE in Dallas Texas. The car had 55,000 miles on it and it was owned by an "old lady". She had every service record and kept it garaged for it's whole life. When I saw the car I couldn't believe it was 10 years old. I feel like I stole the car for $5,900. It was worth every penny. So basically, I "traded" and old worn out mini-van and $900 for a "fresh" 95 GLE Maxima. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
The car itself is at this point bone stock. The color of the car is the light silver with a purple tint. It has black leather, bose stereo, and wood trim. You guys know what comes with the GLE package I don't know why I'm telling you. It even has the honey-comb wheels. I'll post pictures shortly, you guys are going to laugh your asses off. You can so tell that this was an "old-lady" car. Actally, I'm thankful because I KNOW the car was taken car of an not beaten.
Now for the fun stuff!! We have had the car for nearly a year (now it has a whopping 66,000 miles), and it's getting closer and closer to being MY car. My fiancee' is graduating in May with her nursing degree and she is going to get a new car. I have also gotten a fairly well paying job, so being able to financially support my mods shouldn't be a problem. Within the next year, I plan on getting a suspension (Probably H&R paired with Tokico Illuminas), wheels and tires (I'm leaning toward either the 18" G35's or the EVO5's), a y-pipe, cold air intake, and a new paint job. The paint it has now is still nice, but I'm not going to drive a purple car. I'm probably going to paint it metallic silver so the engine bay doesn't have to be redone. The interior is IMMACULATE, so I'm probably going to leave it. I'm still not sure if I'm sold on getting a dash kit or anything else for the interior, we'll see.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a shout out to the great people who make this site possible, and introduce myself.

Wow, a '95 with only 55,000 miles! You snagged a good one. Your mod list sounds like a good start. I've only seen a couple 4th gens with that purple paint. I'm guessing it's rather rare. Even if it's not your favorite color, you may want to keep it.
Glad you've found helpful info here. Read the stickies (if you haven't already) there is a lot of basic info there that will answer a lot of newbie questions.

Thanks for the warm welcome Everyone!! I knew this forum would welcome me with open arms. It is evident that the folks are EXTEMELY knowledgeable and HELPFUL. I learned so much by just reading.
Maxima-Ness, I'm glad my post made you smile. When I convey a message, I try to use proper grammer. I couldn't use that type of slang if I wanted to.

Everyone says it's a rare color, and I agee. I haven't seen another Max that is that color. The problem is..........it definately has a purple tint to it that I'm not too crazy about. We'll see what it looks like after I put on the suspension and new wheels and tires on it. I still think I'm going to paint it a different color.

Welcome to the Org. It is a family and a sickness so just be prepared for both. Hopefully you'll be able to go to Maxus '05 and check out all the other modded maxima's, maybe give you some ideas for future mods you want to do yourself.

Welcome to the org. I was just as lucky as you in picking up a 95 with low miles, these old ladies never even knew what they had. I bought mine 2 years ago with 28k, now its at 56,800. I carfaxed it, the lady bought it january 15th 1995 with 14miles and then i bought it in 2003. Good luck with the mods, they can get pricey but worth it.

I didn't read a damn thing you wrote in that novel of yours. But welcome to the forum.
1.) Read the FAQ's
2.) E-thugness is reserved for Sunday's only
3.) Do not "sign" every post you create. It's annoying as hell.

Yeh welcome. I am new around here also. I was able to pick up a 96 5spd with 56,000 miles on it from a soccer mom that had 2 babies and never really drove it much. I am a college student too and definately hear ya on the money thing. Good luck with the mods and think before act...per my altezzas and "cool" spray-painted white pieces on my interior! Oh, the good old 16 yr old days
